Fall 2012 is bringing a full lineup of shows to the venues of Tacoma-from the Broadway Center to the city's many smaller theatres to the Tacoma Dome. Opera? You got it. Broadway shows? You got it. Holiday events? Yeah, you got that too. But be forewarned, the best that the Tacoma Dome has to offer this fall is a holiday expo and Justin Bieber.

Chicago

What better way to start the fall theatre season than with a tale of murder, seduction and fame-all set to catchy show tunes? "Chicago" follows Roxie Hart after she murders a lover and pins it on her husband. While on death row, Roxie teams up with Velma Kelly and they aim to snag the attention of the media with all those catchy show tunes. "Chicago" has won six Tony Awards on stage and an Academy Award as Best Picture of the Year for the 2002 film.

When: September 28-October 21

Where: Tacoma Musical Playhouse

A Chorus Line - October 26-27

"A Chorus Line" is one of the longest running Broadway shows in history. The plot is simple-an audition for a chorus line with 17 dancers up against one another for eight spots. As the audition goes on, the dancers reveal their life stories. Along the way, there is lots of rockin' dancing. It's like "Showgirls." But with no nudity. And a plot.

Where: Pantages Theater

Psycho - October 28

"Psycho" is an Alfred Hitchcock classic, a frightful film filled with suspense and old-fashioned creep, and the perfect complement to any Halloween season. Strange Norman Bates runs the Bates Motel with his overly possessive mother. Marion Crane, a woman on the run after taking money from her employer, books a room at the motel. The famous shower scene, a tense investigation into a murder and a twist at the end-how can you go wrong? You can't.

The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long

Every year, Broadway Center hosts the annual Christmas tree lighting-an event that has taken place in Tacoma for over 100 years. Since Broadway Center took over, the event has been coupled with a family-friendly film and a party in the lobby before the tree lights up the night. This year, "The Sound of Music" is on and-because you know you want to-it's a sing-a-long. Wear your best Maria or Von Trapp costume to win prizes, or just kick back and watch the fun.

Seattle Men's Chorus

There are a few holiday shows to choose from-Tacoma Little Theatre's "Miracle on 34th Street" or "The Nutcracker," "Messiah," or "The Christmas Revels" all at the Broadway Center. But if you have to pick just one, it's very possible that the performance by the Seattle Men's Chorus might be the most fun. Some pageantry, antics and a touch of naughtiness make this a fine holiday event.
