The Growlers are a surf and garage worshipping foursome with a punk streak. A great deal of the band's appeal comes from lead singer Brooks Nielsen's vocals. Though a young man, Nielsen sounds old and weathered - and possibly toothless - like a leathery, elderly busker by the beach.

The Growlers are a psychedelic band; there's no doubt about it - it's in that particular quality that surf rock possesses.  Immersed in this band, you feel soaked in LSD - like you're trapped in one of those awful trip scenes where you know that a party is happening all around you but can only see the edges and swirled centers of the details.

Or something like that.
