It's a new week, which means it's time for a new installment of Bobble Tiki's South Sound music news and notes column.  Without further ado, let's get rolling ...

Wow.  Just wow.  Bobble Tiki hates to be a whiner, but the fuck is up with getting sick in the middle of summer?  It's simply not right.  Bobble Tiki has spent the last half week hacking and wheezing and sneezing, while everyone else and their godforsaken brother is out sunbathing or bike-riding or generally frolicking in the warmth.  It's been miserable.  All Bobble Tiki can do is sit at home and follow the action via Facebook and Twitter, which is basically a form of torture the U.S. should seriously consider implementing.  Bobble Tiki has never been waterboarded, but he suspects this is right up there.

If there's a silver lining to any of this (and Bobble Tiki contends there's not) it's that your favorite island-themed souvenir with a typewriter had more time to spend on his column this week.  This should make for better copy, right?

Well, don't count on it, but here's the rest of Bobble Tiki's column anyway.

If you're a Plogger you've probably heard by now, but there will be some very noticeable differences at this year's Plogfest, the seventh annual such event set to go down Saturday.  Most noticeably, the all day local music spectacular has moved from a field in Graham to Uncle Sam's American Bar and Grill in Spanaway.

It's true, and on some levels it's sad.  Bobble Tiki always thought the camping and barbecue action was one of Plogfest's best selling points.  But on the other hand Bobble Tiki will also probably appreciate not having to poop in the bushes this year.  There's a lot to be said for progress.

The important thing to remember here is there's a reason this year marks the seventh Plogfest: the people behind this thing are doing something right. According to reports, last years camp-out style Plogfest drew in the area of 200 people - to a field in Graham, no less.  Bobble Tiki thinks that's saying something.

Musically speaking, this year's Plogfest - which will only need to draw people to Spanaway (Should be easier, right?  Right?)  should be everything past events have been and more.  Smart enough not to designate a particular "headliner," the Plogfest planers have spread the musical goodness out evenly throughout the day.  Kicking off at high noon, highlights will include Plogfest vets like Voxxy Vallejo and Koz of Konfuzion, plus newcomers like I Defy.  For a full Plogfest 2010 lineup, check out the Music Calendar section on this website.

The night before Plogfest, at Hell's Kitchen, the venerable Eddie Spaghetti will be in town - minus Supersuckers - for an evening of honky-tonk, rock and roll ass-kicking.  The show, which will cost you only $5 to get into, will also feature Michael ONeill - who presents an awfully country exterior, but at his heart is a songwriter most fans of good, honest music should be able to find something in.  If you got a little country scoot in your boogie, even just a teeny, tiny bit, Bobble Tiki suggest you check O'Neil out - and Friday would be an excellent opportunity.

In terms of Mr. Spaghetti, the Spew reported Tuesday a few changes for the storied rock ‘n roller. Most importantly, he's signed to Bloodshot records to do "a few" solo records, according to his newsletter, and plans on starting work on the first in about a week.

Friday's show should provide an inside peak at just what that record will sound like ... just one more reason to check it out.

See you next week.
