\Since 2011 The Lacey Cultural Celebration - brought to you by Lacey Parks, Culture and Recreation and presented by TwinStar Credit Union - has drawn families from all over Thurston County and beyond to savor the sights and sounds of the world without leaving Lacey. This year's free event on Saturday, March 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at St. Martin's University promises to be bigger than ever and give families the opportunity to share the heritage and cultures of Lacey.
Families will be able to enjoy music and dance presentations by local and regional performing arts groups, learn about various world traditions through demonstrations and displays, and sample the flavors and art of the world with their diverse food and craft vendors.
This event is designed for the whole family and families are encouraged to bring the kids for hands-on activities. Returning this year is their Passport Activity, a favorite amongst the kids. Families can stop by the lobby and pick up their passport, then travel around the world visiting the various different booths and vendors collecting stamps as they go. Once your passport is complete, turn it in for a prize (*while supplies last).
New this year will be a sensory recovery area, hosted by Sensory Toolhouse of Lacey, for any kids or parents needing a quiet place to re-set during the event. This new area will be located in the Worthington Center and available all day.
Attendees will have the option to taste flavors from around the world. Current food vendors include Funnel of Love, Eggroll Hut, Taqueria la Esquinita, Character Cotton Candy and many more, so bring your appetite!
Don't miss this once a year opportunity to experience the many different cultures that make up our community.
The Cultural Celebration is in cooperation with: City of Lacey, North Thurston Public Schools, Lacey Collision, Kevin Hayward - State Farm Insurance, Nisqually Tribe, 94.5 Roxy and Saint Martin's University.
