Empowerment 4 Girls' mission is to affirm the self-worth of all girls as they work toward their vision of a just world where all youth are confident, resilient, and resourceful. They achieve this by providing girls with the tools, life skills and support network to succeed academically, socially and emotionally in their adolescence and throughout their lives.

Between the ages of 10-15 years old girls are faced with the challenges of forming identities and learning to cope with the numerous stressors that increase their risk of developing depression, anxiety and suicidal ideation. Empowerment 4 Girls has developed social-emotional learning empowerment programs to help youth combat these challenges. They help adolescent girls overcome low self-esteem, feelings of isolation, anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation by promoting positive personal development.

Girls enrolled in their programs have the opportunity to participate in yoga, art projects adapted from certified art therapists, mindfulness and physical exercise with a large emphasis on creating space for healthy peer connections.

They also have a Conscious Minds Conscious Bodies program that provides body awareness for empowered choices regarding anatomy and body changes, consent and boundaries, gender identity, sexual orientation and social media awareness. This programming is trauma-informed, guided by WA Education Standards and teaches the importance of reproductive health, safety and self-advocacy.

Participants leave the programs feeling educated, nurtured and empowered - plus find a newfound confidence in themselves.

Parents can have confidence that the programs will provide their daughters with the necessary tools to make an impact on their personal lives as well as in their community.

"This will be Alisa's third time being part of this program. This past summer, I saw her filled with so much excitement and new found courage to make new friends. I am so grateful for the love and the tools she gained from your program." - Joanne Kim

Philip Hyde, Executive Director of Operations, said the organization will continue to grow.

"In 2023, we are launching a five-year Program Expansion campaign. We will focus most financial and human resources on expanding availability and improving the quality of our programs. In 2022, we had far too many families waitlisted for our programs. Our 2023 program schedule nearly triples the number of program days over previous years to meet the demand."

If you're wanting to get involved with the organization they're  always in need of both adult volunteers as well as teen volunteers. For adult volunteers it can be an extremely rewarding experience to help shape the lives of youth girls. Teen volunteers offer peer-to-peer support and guidance that only they can, all while earning community service credits for their time.

One-day as well as week-long  programs are available to sign-up for. To learn more about the programs they offer and to enroll your child in one of their programs visit www.empowerment4girls.org.

In order to ensure that there is never a financial barrier for any child wanting to participate they have awarded over $15,000 in scholarships since 2016. If you're needing financial assistance be sure to indicate at the time of registration.

If you find yourself in a place to do so, they also have options to donate directly to the organization. Visit https://www.empowerment4girls.org/donate to learn more about contributing.
