The mission of US Family Health Plan (USFHP) is to ensure that all eligible military beneficiaries (active-duty, retirees and their family members under the age of 65) make educated decisions about their healthcare.

"I enjoy educating military members about their benefits, which allows them to make the best decisions about their health care," began Army veteran Corey Hammond, a field marketing representative.

"There are a lot of military beneficiaries who are not aware that USFHP at PacMed is an option under TRICARE. We educate them to let them know that they have another option under TRICARE."

US Family Health Plan (USFHP) is a Department of Defense sponsored health plan, made available by non-profit civilian healthcare providers in six designated service areas across the nation, and offers the TRICARE Prime® benefit to uniformed services beneficiaries residing in those service areas.

US Family Health Plan is a TRICARE Prime® option. It is part of the TRICARE plan options managed by the Defense Health Agency (DHA).

USFHP-Northwest region is administered by Pacific Medical Centers (PacMed), a multispecialty doctors' group headquartered in Seattle. The group has teamed up with other civilian doctors' groups in Washington, Northern Idaho and Oregon to provide high-quality health services at clinics closer to where qualified members live.

The way USFHP works is that eligible military beneficiaries enroll with USFHP by contacting the enrollment department. Once this is completed, their TRICARE benefits are managed by USFHP at PacMed.

"They are given the opportunity to select a primary care provider (PCP) from our civilian network of providers," explained Hammond, "and they receive all of their care from their selected provider group; we do not refer them to a military treatment facility (MTF) for any of their care.

As a plan member, eligible military beneficiaries will enjoy fully covered preventive care, their own personal provider, access to disease management programs, discounts on health services not covered by TRICARE or Medicare and naturopathic care, massage, fitness club memberships and more.

Members can also count on same-day urgent care appointments, board certified civilian providers, a broad array of specialty care providers, and no paperwork or red tape.

Hammond added that potential members can learn more through virtual meetings, in-person meetings, talking with a field representative or by requesting an information packet.

"We are committed to providing our members the finest medical care available," concluded Hammond.
