America's First Corps continues the celebration of its "100 Years of Courage" centennial with a retreat ceremony Thursday, Aug. 9. The ceremony will take place at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in front of the I Corps headquarters building at 3 p.m.

The ceremony will celebrate America's First Corps "100 Years of Courage" Centennial and recognize the service and contributions of I Corps' soldiers since World War One. Also featured will be remarks provided by the I Corps Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Gary J. Volesky, and Australian Army Maj. Gen. Roger Noble, U.S. Army Pacific Deputy Commanding General-North.

Founded in 1918 as the first United States Army corps overseeing divisional units fighting in WWI, I Corps has earned its remarkable and distinguished reputation as the most decorated Army corps in the history of the United States with campaign streamers earned in World War Two, Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Today, I Corps stands ready to "Deploy, Fight and Win" decisively in any environment to enhance security and stability in the Pacific region. While deployed, I Corps commands all branches of service -- Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines -- as well as international forces.

America's First Corps recently completed four major exercises in Australia, South Korea and Japan to enhance our strategic alliances and partnerships across the Pacific. Additionally, more than 3,500 I Corps soldiers are currently deployed to 17 countries, including the Middle East.
