The 5th Avenue Theatre has announced a spectacular and dynamic six-show line-up for its 2020/21 season, which includes the postponed production of Evita; the beloved fantasy adventure Shrek The Musical; the world premiere new chapter in the Griswold family adventures, Broadway Vacation, The Musical; the world premiere of Chilifinger! The Musical; a captivating new production of Godspell; and a return engagement of the triumphant smash hit, Les Misérables. Additionally, The 5th will welcome back Come From Away for a special limited engagement, and the national tour of Jersey Boys, which was originally scheduled to perform April 2020.

"With so much uncertainty, disruption, and devastation in our human connections, the art of theater and communal storytelling becomes even more essential as we move into our shared future," said Producing Artistic Director Bill Berry. "The act of sharing a story with a group of people in a common space has always been a revolutionary way to connect and tear down the social distances that exist between us. And that is why we are committed to singing at the top of our voices again at The 5th Avenue Theatre -- and sing we will with the line-up we are curating. This is a season about the power of hope to ignite a fire in your soul and in the world."

Due to the continuing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and government mandates, there are no firm dates determined for The 5th's 2020/21 season. Dates will be communicated as they are confirmed and are subject to change as we continue to navigate the challenges presented by current events.

The season begins with a spectacular new production of one of musical theater's great masterpieces, Evita, which was originally scheduled to close out The 5th's 2019/20 season in June 2020. Evita is Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's smash-hit musical based on the life of Eva Perón, an unknown actress who became the wife of the Argentinian president, and the most beloved -- and most hated -- woman in Argentina.

Shrek the halls! Come November and December, The 5th Avenue Theatre will celebrate the holidays with a delightful, original new staging of the hilarious smash hit, Shrek The Musical, the first time the DreamWorks hit will be on The 5th's stage since its pre-Broadway engagement in 2008.

Shrek is followed by the world premiere of Broadway Vacation, The Musical. Produced in association with Ken Davenport, Broadway Vacation features a book, music, and lyrics by David Rossmer and Steve Rosen (The Other Josh Cohen). They've been to Wally World, they've been to Vegas, and now the Griswolds are going to ... Broadway! Hysterically funny with miles of heart, this laugh-out-loud new musical comedy is the 24th new musical produced by The 5th Avenue Theatre.

Next, The 5th will continue its collaboration with ACT -- A Contemporary Theatre with the world premiere of Chilifinger! The Musical. When working class woman Rose Sunday ordered the chili at a popular fast-food restaurant, she discovered an unexpected, horrifying ingredient -- a severed human finger. First came the lawyers. Then the schemes, the deals, and the full, bracing impact of corporate legal might.

In spring, The 5th will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Tony Award®-nominated seminal rock musical Godspell. An astounding new take on this groundbreaking musical, Godspell is an inspired retelling of the life and death of Jesus packed with amazing songs and an overflowing river of joy and love.

The season will conclude with a return engagement of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg's Tony Award®-winning masterpiece Les Misérables. Presented by Cameron Mackintosh, this glorious new staging and dazzlingly reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo is a breathtaking new production that has left audiences awestruck.

In addition to the six musicals in the season, The 5th is excited to present the return of the breathtaking smash hit, Come From Away. Come From Away is a Best Musical winner all across North America and is the sell-out sensation that began its journey right here at The 5th.

An added bonus to the 2020/21 season is the postponed one-week engagement of the beloved hit, Jersey Boys. This season extra will be available at a discount to 5th Avenue Theatre subscribers.'
