Ginger Knoxx and the Sausage Fest

Gingerknoxx_1The Fool's Fest on Saturday at Hell's Kitchen was off the hook and easily one of the most massive and cool local punk lineups. I mean really? Who wouldn't love to see Bristle, Broken Oars and I Defy all in one setting? Speaking of I Defy, lead singer Jason McKibbin admonishes, "The only true way to enjoy a rock show is to be too drunk to stand and then make your way to the pit." And that's experience talking - fo sho.
There were no Jimmie Dean's cooking on HK's grill. If the grumbling was any indication, seems somebody thought Sausage Party meant real pork products and not just a bunch of guys hanging out. As promised, strippers were in abundance at the show. Blue Haired Dave, seemingly very pleased with how the weekly gig at the Kitchen has been going, was introducing around the Vaudeville Vixens. It's good to see that hot chicks don't stray too far from the rock 'n' roll lifestyle. I swear, a Tacoma venue puts out its best effort to bring us tasseled dancers and nobody comes out to see them except those who should have bathed before venturing out. Yeah, I said it. A bunch of you mouth breathers stink. I am always amazed at those guys who double fist cans of beer, consuming for hours, and yet, they never seem to go drain the main vein.
Walking the street with the drunken munchies can be an uncertain experience, but luckily a house party appeared on the horizon (or just down the block).  Knocking back delicious imported German Double Bock Beer with an alcohol content of 8.5 percent alongside the twins, Erin and Bria, and the always-lovely Megan is a great experience, to which Anderson can attest. He stayed and slugged down those potent devils till damn near 7 a.m. and then was late for a video shoot in the morning. Way to go, tiger. See, there are better things than sleep.

The Moisture Festival is a crazy, cool two-week tribute to vaudeville, burlesque, magic, comedy and the circus. The once-a-year festival of the senses was held at Hale's Ales Brewery and Pub in Fremont. There's nothing better in my book than aerialists, whip crackin' cowgirls doing tricks, hot guys juggling and a bizarro old-time band/orchestra in full costume. Not to mention the killer beers from Hale's. All hail live entertainment without visual effects. The Italian, Sister Lil and I went up for the afternoon and never had such a good time. The only thing lacking was the burlesque dancers who come out late in the night.
Sunday night's crowd at Hank's, aka The Corner Bar, is one of the most fun to drink with, especially if you own a bazillion band shirts, have at least one hole in your face the size of a quarter and are a regular at the tattoo shop. Just joking. It's service industry night, and they are damn fine folks.  J Dog, Reggie, and Over The Top Anderson had started out at O'Malley's, but they made their way to Sixth and North K. Man, I remember when I had just moved back to T-town from living down south and didn't know things had changed in the Stadium District. I thought Sixth and North K was still a rough place. Ha. The guys were killing tallboy PBRs and chatting up servers from other establishments. The Corner recently added a bouncer to reign in the partiers. That means no more fighting outside in the street or in the smoking area if you're some people I know.
