Core of the sun

Jeffersonpark It’s hot.
Like, Africa hot.
We’re driving down the road, the kid is whining, I’m sweating despite the A/C and I decide â€" It’s wading pool time!
The kid decides it sounds like a good idea, but chickens out as she sees the crowd at Tacoma's Jefferson Park wading pool, which has recently reopened after super-cool renovations.  The super-cool playground equipment is like the stuff at the Kidzone at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, only without the sprinklers and goats.
We can’t go to the Kidzone right now, since Zoobilee’s set to happen tonight (I’m going! I’m so stoked!) so here we are.  At the park.  In 90-plus degree heat.  Sweating.  Looking at the water.  She gets brave, and sticks in her feet, I get brave, and wade in up to my knees, drowning my innocent jeans-cuffs.
But Golly-gee-whiskers, does that water feel freaking great.
(For nowâ€"I’m off, to get dressed and ready to schmooze with the gala-ites.) â€" Jessica Corey-Butler
