- Tacoma Symphony reports: The Tacoma Symphony Orchestra’s 2006 gala, “Sixty in the City,†will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center from 6 p.m. to midnight. This year’s gala also celebrates the Tacoma Symphony’s 60th anniversary and will include dinner, silent and live auctions, special musical entertainment by members of the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra and after-dinner dancing. Auction offerings include a week in Mazatlan, a trip to the top of the Narrows Bridge, the opportunity to conduct the Tacoma Symphony and many other unique items and experiences.
