No confidence for Kleeberg

MATT DRISCOLL: GOINGS GOES FOR BLOOD >>>

In news that will, no doubt, shortly be plastered all over the Tacoma blogosphere, Pierce County Councilmen and Pierce County Executive candidate Calvin Goings today called for the axing of planning director Chuck Kleeberg, who currently oversees Pierce County’s Planning and Land Services Department.

And by axing I mean canned, fired, terminated, shown the door, and asked not to come back.

Goings contention, made clear in a press release distributed today, is simple.

"With the economy slumping we can no longer afford the director's mismanagement," says Goings.

"The planning department is facing over a $4 million budget shortfall. We need to hold people accountable in government, and in this case, the buck stops with the director."

Goings’ list of reasons to give Kleeberg the boot include the Planning and Land Service Department failing to meet standards in an independent audit, continued zoning and mapping errors, failing to process permits in a timely manner, neglecting to consistently enforce environmental codes, and the department’s multi-million-dollar budget deficit.

Ouch.

According to in depth and completely fabricated investigative journalism done by the Weekly Volcano, Goings also thinks Kleeberg has bad breath and spends too much time on Myspace.

In addition to the press release, Goings recently introduced a resolution asking the Pierce County Council to give a vote of no confidence for Kleeberg, and asking current Pierce County Executive John Ladenburg to “promptly remove” him.  The Pierce County Council is expected to discuss the resolution in the near future.
