Volcanoblastart VINTAGE ROCK
The Galaxies
While my dad, Little Bill Engelhart, was the first rocker in Tacoma, he certainly wasn’t the last to shape the sounds to come out the city. The Wailers and the Ventures also took R&B and blues and gave it a greasy garage makeover. Following the first wave of rock to be expedited from the rainy state, the floodgates were open and the Northwest sound grew in popularity because of bands such as The Sonics, Paul Revere and the Raiders, and the band performing tonight at the Temple Theatre, the Galaxies. â€" Tony Engelhert
