Hilltop Challenge
After a decent amount of training and practice, not to mention plenty of Ben Gay, the Tacoma Police Department will face off against the Tacoma Fire Department in the 4th Annual Hilltop Challenge â€" a basketball game intended to raise money for Associated Ministries’ Hilltop Action Coalition and the very worthy work they do in this community. â€" Matt Driscoll
[University of Puget Sound Fieldhouse, 7 p.m., $7-$10, 1500 N. Warner, Tacoma]

BENEFIT
Pre-Funk Friday
To see reggae freaks Little Big Man and roots rockers the Joshua Cain Band scheduled to provide the “funk” for the “pre,” well Bobble Tiki figured things couldn’t get much better. But when he saw Bumma Stoge, One Way Trip, Ben and Ted Fuller of Fear Train Caravan and DJ Broam were also scheduled to perform, he had one thought, and one thought only.

Friday at Jazzbones may be the pre-funk to end all pre-funks. What better way to get the City of Destiny psyched for the June 29 Urban Art Festival than their pre-funk fundraiser of this proportion? â€" Bobble Tiki
[Jazzbones, Little Big Man, Joshua Cain Band, Bumma Stoge, One Way Trip, The Fighting Fullers, DJ Broam, Friday, June 7, 7 p.m., $8, 2803 Sixth Ave., Tacoma, 253.396.9169]

STAGE
The Rocky Horror Show
Talking about evil stuff, how about the creepy Dr. Frank N Furter and his sex-starved minions. These days, we can string our sexual deviances together into a pearl necklace, as it were, of letters (BD, DS, SM, PS, SBB, CD, TV, TS). Thirty years ago, some of this new vocabulary was given to us by that now-famous transsexual prophet from a distant world. And The Rocky Horror Picture Show still rouses people’s interest, thanks to Harlequin Productions. â€" Steve Dunkelberger
[State Theater, through July 22 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, $12-$38, 202 Fourth Ave., Olympia, 360.786.0151]
