The Tacoma City Council recently voted to create a Revenue Development Area in Grit City. The idea behind it, naturally, is to increase revenue â€" among other things.

When Baarsma and company voted to create the RDA, it also meant Tacoma would be applying for $1 million dollars a year over 25 years from Washington State’s LIFT Program. LIFT is a state program overseen by the Community and Economic Revitalization Board that awards money to municipalities for things like parking infrastructure, right of way and streetscape improvements.

Tacoma made their LIFT application public today, buy linking to it from the city Web site.
