TONY ENGLEHART: JUNKYARD JANE'S SOFTER SIDE AT THE SPAR >>>L_291d528c18d414b66e95209b1b81c45c

After 15 years and still going strong with the incomparable Billy Stoops, Leanne Trevalyan and Junkyard Jane remains one of the most original bands in the Northwest and beyond. Trevalyan’s washboard playing adds an aura of the band’s unique style of swampabilly blues. Over the years, Stoops and Trevalyan have each started various side projects to, in her words “keep them from driving each other nuts.” While he enjoys a heavy rock sound by way of his band, Billy Roy Danger & the Rectifiers, she leans toward the acoustic singer/songwriter genre by way of her project Trevalyan Triangle. For this venture, she swaps in her washboard for an acoustic guitar. With Barbra Blue on bass, the duo experiments with a sound that mixes pop, folk, rock and just a hint of Americana. Once in a while they welcome a third member by way of drummer Chris Leighton or guitar virtuoso Mark Riley.

Tonight, Trevalyan will play the Spar in Tacoma. Show starts at 7 p.m.
