I love discovering a bunch of kids who just want to rock. Whether it’s a desperate attempt to hang on to my youth or not is questionable. The quartet known as Brownstar features Andrew Tuller (vocals and guitar), Shane Woras (lead guitar), Matt Tuller (bass) and Loren Boley (drums). In reality, Brownstar is a garage band â€" they strip the music down to its core and play it with passion just as Cobain and the boys did back in the day. From the Pixies to Tool to Huey Lewis and the News, they credit a diverse bunch for their sound, and while you can hear subtle shades from each band they list, they aren’t overtly obvious. No frills, just straight ahead rock and roll is what you’ll get at a Brownstar show.
