LAUREN NAPIER: HEAR ALL ABOUT IT >>>

Paperboys Hailing from Vancouver- the Canadian version- The Paperboys continue to defy genres, offering innovative combinations of folk, Latin, acoustic, alternative country, soul, and whatever else your mind can dream of at its creative best. The band is comprised of seven constant members who provide vocals and sprinklings of unusual instruments including the jarana, banjo, saxophone, and other musical eccentricities- the very basis of what makes this band a pleasure and experience to listen to. There is no confining label box in which you can place these musicians, but they also wouldn't want that. It's no fun being pigeonholed or labeled, and not nearly as exciting for the audience. Not like showing up and seeing what you get from The Paperboys on any particular night, anyway. The band presents a brilliant live show- an act that has honored such stages as The Folk Alliance Festival, The Boston Folk Festival, Bumbershoot, and other renowned festivals. A bilingual band with an untraditional approach to the rock music scene: The Paperboys deliver folk music that is shred-tastic.

Tonight, for New Year's Eve, The Paperboys and the Vicci Martinez band will be at Jazzbones in Tacoma.

[Jazzbones, with Vicci Martinez Band, Wednesday, Dec. 31, 8:30 p.m., $35-$75, 2803 Sixth Ave, Tacoma, 253.396.9169]
