MATT DRISCOLL: HATING ON HATERS >>>
As the saying goes â€" to each their own. For a cliché, I think it’s a pretty good one, and I truly believe it. After all, judging is for judgers (known as haters in the realm of rap and hip-hop) and piss on those people, whatever you call them. The world would simply be a better place if every douchebag stopped thinking they know what’s best for others. But now I’m getting preachy. Anyway, Emperor Moth â€" an artsy, indie and experimental musical amalgamation best suited for those with ironic hairstyles and ill fitting pantaloons â€" has a MySpace page that I find just maddening. It’s hard for me to understand. In a world where most every band has given up on the idea of having a legitimate Web site in favor of simply inhabiting Myspace like the rest of the masses â€" why a band would construct its Myspace page in a way that’s â€" quite literally â€" impossible to decipher? Can someone explain to me what the point of all the crazy graphics and colors is if people can’t read a word of any of it because the font is invisible thanks to the intense, seizure-inducing background? I hate that shit. Whose good idea is that? Do these bands hope to remain unheard of? Do they just like to piss off hack music writers hoping to find some quick info to nab moments before deadline? If that’s the case, then mission accomplished. Oh, well. To each their own, I suppose. To each their own.
Tonight, Emeperor Moth will inhabit Bob's Java Jive like a big, old wool sweater - and proceed to gnaw the place to shreds with their unique brand of indie rock.
