BOBBLE TIKI: BRUNCH WITH BOBBLE TIKI >>>

Breakfast-with-Bobble-Tiki Tacoma city officials want to bust down your apartment door to rid you of yellow teeth and reeking clothes and ashtray tongue and shallow breaths and bad skin and 50 bucks a month that you could instead spend on sushi and wine and good porn.

Most important Obama story. Ever.

Chances the U.S. is headed for a Depression: One in five.

Finally, Harriet Miers and Karl Rove will testify.

Lohan keeps the gossip rags in business. She’s so funny.

Stop. Drinking. Poison. Find out how here.

Tacoma Photo of the Day

MICHAEL SWAN: TOTALLY SUCKS >>>

Tacoma-Photo-3509 Chris Roxx of Tacoma Rock Gritty sent us snap shot of what at Supernova Hair and Tattoo last night. According to Roxx, a giant pole was thrown through their windows. Strangely, nothing was stolen and the register was covered in black soot. So X Files.

Stuck in the Middle with mildew

TACOMA MAMA: ADOPT A SCHOOL >>>

Hunt-shower Hunt Middle School in Tacoma opened in 1958. The school's plywood based flat-roofed design was hailed in the press at the time as "imaginative" and "cost-saving."  Today the roof lies in shreds, as mold and mildew seep through fresh coats of paint.  Teachers report frequent illnesses, and suspect the school-wide mold may be to blame. Kids take rusty showers in the school's decrepit locker rooms, while their librarian shifts freshly donated computers around the library, dodging leaks.

This is the state of one of the schools in our community, in 2009.  It wasn't destroyed by a hurricane or a terrorist attack, but by our failure to invest in our own future.

Hunt-ceiling Hunt-lockers Editor note: For more information on how to adopt Hunt Middle School, read Tacoma Mama here.

Tacoma Mama also snapped shots of Baker and Stewart middle schools. Not pretty.

New CD from Vicci Martinez

PAUL SCHRAG: AND A SHOW TO CELEBRATE TONIGHT AT JAZZBONES >>>

Vicci-article-3_5 Vicci Martinez has traded the promise of fame for something better. Don't worry, Tacoma. She's still making music, and it's still breathtaking. But living through the past several years- which included the loss of her father to cancer and a split with both the recording industry and a beloved partner- has pushed Martinez to re-evaluate her relationship with music, her self, her life and her career as an artist.

It's the kind of struggle that makes or breaks people.

Martinez made it, and it shows.

Vicci Martinez celebrates the release of From the Outside In, her new record, tonight at Jazzbones.

New Black Water opens Monday

RON SWARNER: WAIT UNTIL MONDAY >>>

Blackwater-chairs My focus was on my phone more than the topics at hand this morning at the Go Local meeting. Twitter was pouring love toward the Black Water Café, which unofficially opened today. The coffee, the friendly company, the hipness â€" I needed my fix.

My plan to work from its new location didn’t pan out. The wi-fi isn’t hooked up. Neither is the espresso machine, the food, the artwork or the stained glass.  In a long, narrow space next to Club Silverstone on St. Helens Black Water is running on drip only through the weekend. And that might be hit or miss, too. Handy Randy installed the counter but work still needs to be completed for its officially opening Monday morning. Owner Rachel Moreshead, operating on little sleep, has her mind on her space rather than your coffee fix. She’ll sell you a cup of drip today, tomorrow and Sunday, but don’t count on her full attention.

I suggest waiting until Monday when you can her full attention.

Breakfast-with-Bobble-Tiki Tuesday marks the day for school bond and levy voting. It’s a all-mail election requiring ballots to be postmarked by midnight March 10. However, express voting booths are open today to deliver your vote in person. Vote yes because we need to fix this.

Bureaucrash posted a straightforward recap of CPAC, which everyone fondly knows as Conservatives Placing Assholes in Charge.

Craigslist is selling more than tiki bars and some peeps aren’t fans of the other goods for purchase.

The Watchmen opens today. Looks like a winner.
