Having a hankering for a full-flavored and hearty salad, I dropped into Puyallup’s Powerhouse Restaurant and Brewery for their Indonesian chicken salad. Known to be an actual refurbished Puyallup powerhouse, this restaurant holds true to the ambiance of what is all warm and electrifying. Voltage innuendos, sound effects, and neon lightning bolts parade around your every move while brewed-on-the-spot beer fills your tummy and gives you the perfect mid-afternoon hangover â€" one the Volcano staff knows all to well.

Description: Crunchy and fresh Napa cabbage lies atop thick Asian noodles, while strips of green bell pepper and chilled grilled chicken sit inside the mound of this Indonesian chicken salad. All parts are tossed in a spicy (or so they say) peanut dressing and sprinkled with chopped peanuts and fresh cilantro.

Taste: The taste is, well, not spicy at all. At least to me it isn’t spicy, but then again I have a tongue of steel. Just ask my husband. (Hey-O!) Due to the fact that I was, as mentioned above, hankering for a full-flavored salad, this one simply fell short for my expectations. The only taste the entire salad, including the chicken, had was what came from the peanut-y dressing.

Conclusion: Although fresh and full of texture, I was disappointed in the Indonesian chicken salad. I’ve had quite a few delicious and extremely spicy entrees from Powerhouse Restaurant and Brewery, so this will not deter me from returning to one of my favorite Puyallup establishments. Next time I will order something else, and will most definitely be happily satisfied.

Why in e-mails or written messages is it necessary to short-type, “R U going 2 be there 2morrow?” It looks stupid, people â€" especially when you are not in high-school. Typing out the full word is literally one or two more keystrokes on your keypad. Lazy-ass MF’ers.
