SUZY STUMP: READY … BREAK! >>>

As you all know by reading the Weekly Volcano, the Grand Impromptu Cooperative Gallery shut down to make room for a fourth screen at The Grand Cinema. The Impromptu artists decided not to relocate, which eliminates the opportunity to all their talent in one location. Bummer.

Thankfully, the Grand Impromptu sent out a press release noting where its members are now showing. Here is the rundown:

Shirley Benton will have her abstract paintings at Artifact Signature Gallery for the month of October, 2009. She will be present for a “Meet the Artists” event Oct. 17 7 p.m. to midnight (21 and over) at the gallery (3218 Eastlake Ave., Seattle).

Dorothy McCuistion currently has a solo show in the gallery at the Tahoma Unitarian Universalist Church (1115 South 56th St., Tacoma) and three pieces in the Rabbitual show at the Two Vaults Gallery (602 S. Fawcett, Tacoma). Look for Dorothy during the Open Studio week-end for Art at Work Month at the studio of LeeAnn Seaburg Perry (4683 N. Lexington, Tacoma).

Printmaker and Sumi-e painter Bill Colby is freakin’ busy:

Mirka Hokkanen, a newcomer to the Tacoma scene, will have a solo show of prints and drawings at the Friends Gallery at Lakewold Gardens in the month of November. Also check out her studio (2926 S. Steele St., Tacoma) during November’s Art At Work month.

Becky Frehse received a grant from the Tacoma Artists Initiative Project that will allow her time to make new work for a solo show to open in February, 2010 at The Sandpiper Gallery (2221 N. 30th St., Old Town Tacoma).
