5 Things To Do: Ira Glass, Becky Frehse, Bobby Galaxy ...

By Michael Swan on January 30, 2010

SATURDAY, JAN. 30, 2010 >>>

1. Ira Glass - host and producer of the monumental This American Life radio program - is all about the stories. Whether you consider him a journalist, a radio personality or just a nerd in horn-rimmed glasses, Glass' audio narratives are the work of genius, and it's no wonder he and his radio show have managed to build the devoted following they have. At 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Pantages, Glass will offer live insight into what makes This American Life tick, as well as "recreate the sound of his radio show onstage, with music and quotes and sound," according to promotional information.

2. The opening reception for Becky Frehse's solo exhibition, Adaptations, at The Sandpiper Gallery will go down between 2-5 p.m.  Her unconventional paintings are based loosely on the natural world.

3. The Capitol Theater will screen Paranormal Activity at midnight. Oh, scary.

4. Off The Rails Ozzy Osbourne tribute band will perform at 9 p.m. inside the Halftime Sports Saloon in Gig Harbor.

5. DJ Bobby Galaxy will spin exclusively soul, funk, R&B, Motown and various combinations and permutations thereof beginning at 9 p.m. inside the Tempest Lounge.
