ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL >>>

If a press release could smile, the release Weekly Volcano World Headquarters just received would be smiling corner to corner. The campaign for Rep. Jeannie Darneille (D) from the 27th Legislative District announced a good chunk of the Tacoma City Council is in her camp for her State Senate run.

Here's the release:

Rep. Jeannie Darneille's campaign for State Senate (27th LD) received a number of key local endorsements this week including Tacoma City Councilmembers David Boe, Victoria Woodards, and Anders Ibsen. The three join Councilmembers Ryan Mello and Lauren Walker as well as Mayor Marilyn Strickland in endorsing Darneille, earning her the support of the majority of the City Council.

"Jeannie has been an outstanding advocate for the City of Tacoma in the Legislature," said Woodards. "She is widely respected by leaders both here (in Tacoma) and in Olympia, and is the perfect candidate to fill the seat Senator Regala is vacating."

Darneille has also been endorsed by Pierce County Executive Pat McCarthy, Pierce County Councilmembers Tim Farrell and Rick Talbert, former Tacoma Mayors Bill Baarsma and Brian Ebersole, former Pierce County Executive Joe Stortini, and a number of other former local elected officials.

While campaign season is quickly approaching, as Vice-Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee Darneille remains largely focused on her current leadership position and her role in balancing the state budget.

"I am extremely thankful that so many of my friends and colleagues in Tacoma have come out so early to support me," says Darneille. "While balancing the state budget and sending the Legislature home is my main priority this spring, I am excited to engage the citizens of the 27th District on the campaign trail."

"It's been an honor to represent Tacoma for the past 12 years in the House and I am very hopeful that I will earn the voters support and be able to continue to advocate for them in the State Senate," says Darneille.

I'm not surprised that the leaders of Tacoma are endorsing Jeannie. She has such a great track record of standing up for the values of Tacoma, championing women's rights, and protecting the most vulnerable amongst us! I am excited to see her move over to the senate so she can continue to do great work.

I counter this endorsement. Darneille introduced a bill this past session that would violate due process. She wants DNA testing at one's arrest, meaning prior to conviction. Aren't fingerprints enough? Does she want anyone with AIDS to be in a database? Why doesn't she focus on all the unsealed rape kits of she really cares about women? I know one victim who is waiting for her kit to opened. This story of her bill hit the AP wire it was so absurd. The bill died on the floor. In addition to this, Darneille did not support me when my civil rights were violated by The State of Washington. I have a copy of the letter in my support from the EEOC investigation. The two rights violated were: The Americans With Disabilities Act (I have MS) and my civil rights (I was stalked by a colleague who had previously stalked a woman for five consecutive years). Patty Murray intervened for me even though it was out of her jurisdiction. I counter that she cares about women's rights. I say she cares about being re-elected. Again, I have a copy of that EEOC decision and I settled out of court when I could have taken it to trial. It is unheard of that a Senator does a Congressional inquiry into a state office. She has never apologized to me. Even if she does, I am backing a civil rights lawyer: Jack. I urge the council to reconsider.

That is because Jeannie fits the district.

Jack Connelly does not believe in Contraceptives, a Woman’s right to choose! More over he also does not support Gay Marriage or Domestic Partnerships. The Senate was key this year in approve Gay Marriage and he would have voted NO on that!

http://m.npr.org/news/U.S./147225828 Here is a link to the NPR story which also states Darneille twice killed this bill. We simply cannot trust a person who is this unstable in her thinking. Who knows what she might do next. I don't.

Jack is fully entitled to his personal beliefs and I have stated this before. Obviously he must believe in contraception or he would have how many children by now? A dozen? Gay marriage was a milestone, but meanwhile while Lindquist was fighting for more justice regarding drunk driving and the removal of child porn from prisons (which passed), what was Darneille doing? Discussing license plate designs. Guess which one was banned? The ACLU plate. People need to wake up. She has ruined this state fiscally because she has no business sense or background. We want jobs. Jobs move every civil rights movement forward: people with disabilities employed; jobs for minorities; jobs, jobs, jobs. She is a classic enabler. We don't need enabling, we need empowerment. All she has done is give lip service to the disenfranchised but she has done nothing to get help get us out of the system. Jack is much smarter. We need Jack. Jack wins cases and gets people with disabilities back to work. Jeannie would just toss some minor amount of money at a person who is disenfranchised and call herself a hero. No, a hero is someone who gets a person back to work. Jack has done this over and over and over again. I will fight for his victory. I will widely distribute that EEOC letter. It has to be one of the largest lies she has ever told. Or is it? What else is she lying about?

I wonder why no one has a valid argument against my facts? Maybe it is the weekend? Maybe there are no valid facts? Perhaps we have a legislature driven by blindness instead of something that might fiscally save our state? If we did this, we could help the disenfranchised instead of giving us lip service. However, since the legislature wrote into their own statute that only social services can be cut to balance the budget, well, Ms. Darneille certainly made sure she would keep her job. Please vote her out!
