1. Late 80's shock-comedy-thrash band COVEN plays the Backstage Bar and Grill in Tacoma tonight. If you remember such hits as "6669", "McDonaldland Massacre" and "Iron Dick" then you don't want to miss this show! With Faces Pale, Yuck Fou and The Saints of Damnation. Show starts at 8 p.m. $7/adv, $10/door, 6409 6th Ave, Tacoma, 253.564.0149.

2. This year's Sand in the City features a new location, longer hours, & more fun activities for the whole family. Marvel at the sand sculptures and enjoy activities such as a tide pool touch tank, a rock climbing wall, and animal visits. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Free, $5 suggested donation,  New Hands On Childrens Museum, Jefferson St. NE and Olympia Ave., Olympia WA

3. Visit Frost Park every Friday lunch hour from April through October to watch chalk art in action. Bring a lunch and root on your favorite chalkie then head back to vote for your favorite. As always, there's free chalk on hand so feel free to join in! Noon - 1 p.m., free, Frost Park, 9th Ave and Pacific, Tacoma.

4. It’s the 16th Annual Garlic Fest and Craft Show this weekend in Chehalis. With over 70 varieties of garlic-flavored foods, (even brownies with garlic frosting!) the Garlic Fest is a garlic-lover’s dream. To wash down all the savory and sweet foods, a beer garden featuring garlic beer created by Dick’s Brewing, and wine tastings will both be available. And what festival wouldn’t be complete without music and activities? Garlic Fest has got it covered. SW Washington Fairgrounds, 2555 N. National Ave, Chehalis, $5 general admission, $4 seniors and military, kids 7 and under are free. Fri, 12 – 8 p.m.

5. When is Enough Just Too Damn Much? A crazy comedy about what may await you at the end of your rope. WARNING: Real. Live. Theater. *Rated PF: Painfully Funny - Probably 14 and older. Includes coarse language, inelegant drinking, inadvertant drug use, and a large dose of hilarious exasperation in the face of our current political landscape. As director Linda Whitney says, "It's perfect for an election year!" 8 p.m. $20-$31, Harlequin Productions, State Theater, 202 4th Avenue East, Olympia, 360.786.0151.
