Hempfest in Olympia

Grab the rolling papers; Hempfest is happening this Saturday in Olympia.

“I encourage people to come out and enjoy this year’s event, we have a brand new crew and they have done a great job putting this year’s event together,” says Jeremy Miller, founder and director of the Olympia Hempfest.

Saturday, from 10 a.m – 8 p.m., Heritage Park in downtown Olympia will be filled with live performances, vendors, food, raffles and more.

Guest speakers and live music will get festival participants in the mood, and information regarding hemp and marijuana will be readily available.

“I’m looking forward to raising awareness about the most misunderstood plant on the planet,” says Miller, who became a hemp activist in 1992 after meeting Jack Herer at an event in Berkeley, California.

Olympia Hempfest has been a free gathering for the people since 2003 and continues to be a beacon of awareness, support and fun surrounding the medical and recreational use of cannabis.

“This event is important because it raises awareness about the social injustice of marijuana prohibition and reminds people about our heritage,” says Miller.
