Paddle with some pints

By Kristin Kendle on August 29, 2012

With the Tacoma Craft Beer Festival this Saturday, it goes without saying that many Tacomans will be consuming far too many calories for the day. Why not kick the fest off with some exercise to balance out your caloric load for the day?

Paddle and Pints, hosted by MetroParks, starts at 10 a.m. (two hours before the beer binge). For $30, you can join the paddle. For $50, you can borrow equipment, if you are sans-kayak.

The paddle will be easy and offer views of everything we know and love about Tacoma-the skyline, the Glass Museum, the mountain rising in the distance, marinas, the Port.

Ahhh, Tacoma. So lovely. So on the cutting edge. So...hey...what's that mysterious sludge floating out of that marina? Don't ask questions. Just keep paddling!

The paddle leaves from the Thea Foss boat launch at 10 a.m. and will wrap up before the Craft Beer Festival starts at noon. Paddlers must be 21 or older, but no experience is needed. Pre-registration is required. To register, call 253-305-1022.
