China Davis launches an Indiegogo campaign for "Arctic Days"

By Ron Swarner on September 27, 2013

Gig Harbor born, but Northwest raised rock band China Davis has launched an Indiegogo campaign for their upcoming album, Arctic Days, which core members, and brothers, Ben and Ted Fuller have been working on since their birth. I have heard snippets, and read lyrics, for the past two years. It's full of mystery, beauty and a sense of yearning. Tacoma musician, poet and artist Jeremy Silas has added his talent to the project, too. Read more about the band's new effort and where the $4,000 it's asking for through an Indiegogo campaign will be going, below then scroll down to check out the video for "Anjilla" off Arctic Days.

China Davis has recorded a phenomenal project with many influences ranging from U2 and Echo and the Bunnymen to Tom Petty, Simon and Garfunkel and the Beach Boys. This is a project that is many years in the making with all the aspects lining up in the last 3 years to create a beautiful piece of art rarely possible from an independent band. The lush production value was attainable due to the amount of time spent on the project and the fact much of it was recorded a church in Tacoma, WA.  Urban Grace opened in 1883; seats 850 people in the theater and has amazing acoustics. True music fans will appreciate this project as well as the average listener. Arctic Days is a very special recording, which sounds both familiar and original at the same time.

China Davis is a northwest band that constantly pushes the boundaries of recording and you can hear the influences of the many of your favorite bands in their music.

The campaign is very important to the success of China Davis and in spreading the word of their music.

China Davis is a working class band that is relying heavily on this campaign to press the CD of the music they have already recorded.

What We Need & What You Get

The money raised is going toward pressing the CD's, marketing, promotion, the new website, setting up a tour etc.

The perks include downloads, CD's, t-shirts, posters, handwritten lyrics, shows etc.

Whatever we raise will go toward pressing the CD, which is the minimum necessity of the campaign and needs to happen regardless of what is raised.

We would love to raise $6000 total to release the project on vinyl as well once the $4000 is met.

CD Replication $1500

Download cards, posters, t-shirts $300

Artwork $300

Marketing/Promotion/postage etc. $1000

Website, Domain and hosting for a year $300

Touring (depends) gas, food, lodging $250 minimum. The more that is contributed the larger the tour can be.

Indiegogo fee $280

Vinyl Pressing $2000 for a two record set as the recording is roughly an hour and it will need to be on two records to fit all the material.

The Impact

The project is not only to release a CD but a tribute to many great bands throughout history and the impact they have had on recording etc.
