USO Northwest SeaTac Center goes old school

By Northwest Military News Team on February 7, 2014

This morning the new USO Northwest SeaTac Center received the teak decking of the WWII battleship USS Colorado (BB-45) donated by Boeing. There were more then 75 people in attendance, including TSA, Port of Seattle representatives, Boeing employees, USO volunteers and board and two crewmembers from the USS Colorado with their families.

United States Navy Petty Officer 1st Class William McKenna carried the ceremonial piece of teak decking from the Boeing Development Center to the location of the new USONW SeaTac Center on the airport's mezzanine level.

In early July, the Port of Seattle approved a new lease on a larger space and the USO Northwest is now hard at work to raise funds for what they've named "Operation Enduring Support." The campaign will not only raise money for the actual construction, but also set up an endowment for the future.
