Eat This Now: Blackened New York

By Jackie Fender on March 17, 2014

My clothes dryer is busted. It's the third one in a year that has gone kaput. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm cursed. Though this is bad news and highly inconvenient, there is a silver lining to the stormy cloud of having to visit the laundromat, the laundromat resides next to the West End Pub and Grill.

Well-known secret among its regulars and locals: West End happens to have the best steak in town that won't break your bank.

While the Pub Steak is the most popular among their meaty red meat selection with its sautéed onions and mushrooms, the Blackened New York ($12.95) is a personal favorite. A half pound of perfectly seasoned, tender steak is cooked to order and covered with a generous portion of melted chunks of bleu cheese accompanied by a parmesan dusted bread stick and a choice of two sides. The selection of sides is vast and includes a choice of fries, sweet potato fries, soup, mac and cheese, cottage cheese, baked potato and side salad.

Being as my Sunday chore includes the obligatory noshing of this meal I'd almost call my dryer curse a blessing in disguise.

Almost.
