Tacoma Beer Week: Wednesday, March 5 taps

By Ron Swarner on March 5, 2014

As we mentioned Monday, Tacoma Beer Week is on, and ends Saturday with hoopla at the Parkway Tavern.

Have you tried the special Tacoma Brewers Collaboration Neo Noir Belgian Black IPA? I found one at The Red Hot and another at Narrows Brewing. Four hops varieties produced a fruitiness that melds well with the spiciness of a Belgian yeast strain. Caramel malt, de-husked black malt and Belgian candi syrup builds a rich body without being overly sweet. Nice.

More local beers are debuting this week: The Ram on South Hill has a Cask Belgian Blonde with peaches, Narrows Brewing produced an XLVIII Oatmeal Stout, Harmon brewed a Cross-Pollination Coconut Honey Porter, Engine House No. 9 has a new Belgian Pale, Morgan at Tacoma Brewing Co. made a Citrasicle (orange and vanilla infused Citra hopped IPA) - which he is showcasing at the Parkway Tavern Saturday, Puyallup River Brewing let the We Are The Champions IPA fly Friday and Wingman Brewers Tacoma has a new Tacoma brew, which they'll shine the spotlight tomorrow.

Three cheers for Maxwell's Speakeasy and Puget Sound Pizza for joining in on the TBW fun. The two Tacoma establishments are making room for Tacoma beers this week, including the Neo Noir.

Keep an eye on the Tacoma Beer Week Facebook page for updates.

Today, Tacoma Beer Week officially gives nods to the Harmon Tap Room and Puyallup River Brewing.

Tap Room will, er, tap local brews from Engine House No. 9, Puyallup River Brewing, the Neo Noir and, of course, it's own brews. It will put its Harmon Pinnacle Peak on the Randall at 5 p.m.

Here's today's Tap Room tap list:

In cans, the Tap Room will offer 7 Seas Brewing's Ballz Deep and Wingman's Ace IPA.

Puyallup River Brewing will also host a Tacoma tap takeover at its Alehouse, which will include its own recently brewed We Are The Champions IPA.
