WESTSIDE TAVERN: Be sure to check out Casey Grant's photography during the Westside's party Saturday night.

THE LOWDOWN ON WHAT'S UP THIS WEEKEND >>>

WEATHER REPORT

Friday: Cloudy with a little rain, hi 48, lo 41

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with some annoying rain, hi 46, lo 37

Sunday: Some rain here and there, hi 44, lo 39

>>> FRIDAY, JAN. 25: CLUSTERFLUFF: AN ECLECTIC GLITTER EXPLOSION

Rock Candy Burlesque promises a smile, a flip of the skirt and a grind of the hips. The Rock Candy is one of the many highlights of Friday's Clusterfluff: An Eclectic Glitter Explosion at The Royal Lounge in downtown Olympia. The burlesque troupe plans to not only showcase its curves, but some (hidden?) talent, too. A raffle for a Rock Candy calendar, special guests from Twin City Tease, as well as a meet and greet (plus photo ops) with the ladies will also be going down. The Rock Candy's motto is "hard, sweet and sticky." Enough said. - Nikki McCoy

  • The Royal Lounge, 7 p.m., $12, 311 Capitol Way N., Olympia, 360. 705.0760

>>> FRIDAY, JAN. 25: ICE BLOCK PARTY

We can't think of a better way to celebrate winter than sampling nine different winter ales on Varsity Grill's heated outdoor patio. (Well, maybe being surrounded by snow bunnies in a remote mountain cabin with a hot tub and three weeks off work!) But, for being a Friday night in Tacoma, this is awesome. "It's one of our best parties of the year," says Razhida Pope, Varsity Grill general manager. To go with the delicious brews, expect tacos served outdoor street style, and heaping warm bowls of chicken corn chowder as well as dessert made with beer. After dinner, follow the party inside for live band karaoke. - NM

  • Varsity Grill, 5:30-9 p.m., $20, $15 for Varsity Serious Beer Drinkers Club members, 1114 Broadway, Tacoma, 253.627.1229

>>> ALL WEEKEND: TACOMA HOME & GARDEN SHOW

Surely you have a few home improvements you've been meaning to make. Maybe, for instance, your retirement community building caught on fire. Need some inspiration to get the job started? This week the annual Tacoma Home & Garden Show returns to the Tacoma Dome, running through Sunday and bringing more garden demonstrations, bathroom renovation tips, vinyl siding samples, shag carpet displays, mulching systems and kitchen cabinet seminars than you'll find just about anywhere. This marks the 30th year of the Tacoma Home & Garden Show. — Weekly Volcano

  • Tacoma Dome, Friday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., $10 adults, $8 Seniors, 16 and younger free, $16 two-day pass, 2727 E. D St., Tacoma, otshows.com/ths

>>> SATURDAY, JAN. 25: WESTSIDE TAVERN ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY BASH

The Westside Tavern in Olympia went through some serious transformation during 2011. Gone are Big Buck Hunter and pull-tabs. They have been replaced by refurbished pool tables and the classy photography of Casey Grant featuring tattooed ladies and Olympia beer. Gone is the tattered blue paint on the outside of the building - inside and out. The ambiance has been mellowed by earthy paint tones, accented by red. Gone is the greasy spoon bar food. The Westside now serves homemade upscale menu items, such as portabella fries with sweet Chile sauce and pineapple express sliders. Saturday, new owners Dean and Lisa Damitio celebrate their first year of being the coolest bar on the Westside by offering a live electric acoustic set by Vaughn Johannes and food and drink specials all night. A super great staff is there to please, and they have a nice heated smoking patio, too. "It's a community place for people to come gather," says Dean, "which is exactly what we were hoping to achieve." — NM

  • Westside Tavern, 8 p.m., no cover, 1815 Harrison Ave., Olympia, 360.915.7839

>>> SUNDAY, JAN. 27: SOUTH SOUND WEDDING SHOW

A large percentage of people get married at some point during their lives. Some people, like Newt Gingrich for instance, do it several times. Hopefully soon it will be legal for gay folks to marry too. The fact is, weddings are a big part of our existence. All the more reason to check out the sixth annual South Sound Wedding Show Sunday at Centralia's Great Wolf Lodge. Expect everything from wedding gown and tuxedo models to dancing demonstrations. Pro Tip: If you're South Sound Wedding Show date ditches you for one of the Great Wolf water slides, he's probably not the one. — WV

WHAT SOME OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS ARE UP TO

CHRISTIAN CARVAJAL Theater Critic
I'm seeing Or, at Harlequin Productions. Yes, the comma is part of the title — plus my friends' intriguingly named band, Dutch Professors.

REV. ADAM MCKINNEY Music Writer
There are two fantastic shows this weekend at The New Frontier: Friday, with I Like Science, Glass Elevator, Oh Dear! and Battersea, and Saturday with Not From Brooklyn, the Harvey Girls and People Under the Sun. I'd find it hard to miss either.

ALEC CLAYTON Arts Critic
Saturday night we're going to see Or, at Harlequin Productions in Olympia. It's a fascinating play about a cross dresser who survived the Nazis in Germany on wit and guts. Sunday, Gabi and I are doing the talkback after The Children's Hour at Lakewood Playhouse - a riveting play, to say the least.

NIKKI MCCOY Feature Writer
This weekend brings an extra shift at the bar Saturday night, which means I will be serving pre-funkers headed to the Royal Lounge for E 40. I also invited Jared Warren from Big Business to come visit me and have a drink on me, so we'll see. If he doesn't make it, I'm sure there will be an entourage from the Capitol Theater in search of libations before, during and after the Bones Brigade flick and Big Business double feature. Other than that, I should probably do some laundry.

JOSH RIZEBERG Music Columnist
Friday night I'm going to check out the all-ages hip-hop line-up at The Loch's in downtown Tacoma. It's only $5 to get in. There are some good Seattle artists coming to perform on the bill. The show starts at 7 p.m. Saturday at 1 p.m. I'll be teaching my spoken word poetry class at D.A.S.H. The center is looking for 13- to 19-year-old poets who want to compete in slams. If ya know a young person who is good, send them to D.A.S.H. Saturday is also swim lessons for my little one. Later that day I'll be performing spoken word poetry at Hip-Hop 4 Homeless. This is an all-weekend event, Saturday and Sunday at the Olympia Ballroom. I'll be going-on during the Free Ya Mind segment of the show. Sunday, I'll be hanging with my Jewish community at Temple Beth El.

JACKIE FENDER Food Writer
This weekend will be a mellow weekend. I'll be writing and slinging booze some ... and otherwise floating around in a pregnancy-induced haze.

JOANN VARNELL Theater Critic
I will spend this weekend rejoicing in completing the first semester of the school year while simultaneously lamenting that my SOTA intern is almost done with her J-term (and me). Of course, all that really means is I have no plans other than entertaining the toddler, spending time with the husband, and attending church on Sunday. The toddler keeps asking for a backpack so maybe I'll finally sew the fabric I cut out last weekend.

TIMOTHY GRISHAM Music Writer
Olympia is a swinging place when Leg. session is in. (Pun here: swinging from the rafters) So to celebrate the increase in temporary citizens, I plan on taking in a movie at Tacoma's Grand Cinema, then catching some form of live show (undecided yet as to what), and a meal somewhere away from downtown
Olympia. Curry Corner in Lacey sounds great.

NIC LEONARD Music Writer
Saturday night I will be checking out the Hip Hop 4 Homeless event at the Olympia Ballroom. Afterward, I'll be heading over to The Royal to open up for Bay Area legend E40. Go me!

ROCKFORD ROWLEY All-Ages Music Columnist
This weekend my friend and I are headed over to Cashmere, Wash. to visit some friends and attend a dessert party. We'll probably also visit Leavenworth, and enjoy the faux Bavarian town during its holiday season.

Bandito Betty Lou Who hanging out with MoM

MARKET ON MARKET: Bandito Betty Lou Who can't wait for the Last Minute Gift Grab today.

BANDITO BETTY LOU WHO'S LEAP OF THE DAY >>>

Bandito Betty Lou Who isn't a huge fan of jingtinglers, floofloovers, trumtookas, blumbloopas and the other wack musical instruments her fellow Whos bang during the holiday season. Every two years she gets the hell out of Whoville and spends the holiday season in the South Sound.

She's back. The Weekly Volcano secretly attached a GPS device to her whocarnio. We're tracking her.

Apparently even Bandito Betty Lou Whos need to do some last minute shopping. We spotted her at the Market on Market waiting for it to open today for its Last Minute Gift Grab. From noon to 4 p.m. Caps 'N' Scraps, Singe Soy Candles, The One Spot, LollyGear, Fingerprint Confections, Paparazzi and others will sell locally sourced and made food and gifts. We managed to snap of her leaping before she ran out the door and into the YMCA. Don't fret. The Weekly Volcano is hot on her trail. Expect more Lou Who action tomorrow.

Bandito Betty Lou Who goes to the dark side

BANDITO BETTY LOU WHO: Keeping her spirits bright in the dark confines of Le Noir Bazaar.

She's back. The Weekly Volcano secretly attached a GPS device to her whocarnio. We're tracking her.

Bandito Betty Lou Who is a cheery little pixie. Imagine our surprise when we tracked her at the Le Noir Bazaar in Tacoma's Antique Row. What was once called A Little Touch of Magick at the Middle Floor Merchants inside Sanford and Son Antiques has moved to a storefront on Broadway and renamed Le Noir Bazaar. The shop still carries romantic gothic gifts, fashions and home decor, but now in a bigger space.

Maybe Bandito was scouting out the dark goods represented tonight at Le Noir Bazaar's A Gothic Victorian Christmas event.

Funny, we scared her in this gothic shop and she bolted. Don't fret. The Weekly Volcano is hot on her trail. Expect more Lou Who action tomorrow.

5 Things To Do Today: Repeal Prohibition Day, Kim Archer, Public Officials Holiday Reception and more ...

GRETA JANE QUARTET: It's a no-brainer having this band at a Repeal Prohibition Day Celebration.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 5 2012 >>>

1. On Dec. 5, 1933, Americans regained the freedom to imbibe, and 79 years later, Wednesday, Dec 5, 2012 at 6 p.m., the Olympia Film Society (OFS) presents its second annual Repeal Prohibition Day Celebration at the historic Capitol Theater in downtown Olympia. The event encourages period clothing and is complete with pre-prohibition handcrafted cocktails, burlesque with the girls of TUSH!, photo booth, live music with Scuff & Al and the Greta Jane Quartet - all hosted by Oympia's lord of storytelling Elizabeth Lord. Doyle's Public House in Tacoma encourages liquor consumption today, too.

2. If you brush away the budget issues, traffic congestion, potholes, rain gardens, painted black bridges and 20-year-old laptops, you will see local public officials have a love for puzzles, a joy for knitting — with Tacoma Makes playing cards in their spokes and Green Day, Beyoncé and "Stairway to Heaven" in their ears. Today from 6-9 p.m. Tacoma's public officials will mix small talk with small drinks at the Public Officials Holiday Reception at the LeMay Car Museum.

3. The chaps at Feather & Oar host a Menswear workshop from 6-8 p.m. Whether your looking for a style upgrade, new styles to add to your wardrobe or shopping for the holiday season, the Spaceworks Tacoma store cordially invites you for an evening of style, food, refreshments and camaraderie.

4. After you correct your wardrobe issues at Feather & Oar, swing around the corner to The Mix and catch the awesome R&B powerhouse that is Kim Archer at 8 p.m. remember, Archer will perform at the Franciscan Polar Plaza ice skating rink at 7 p.m. Saturday.

5. Meconi's Tacoma Pub & Eatery amps up its Wednesday night trivia with Rev. Colin by adding a birthday celebration for Weekly Volcano's nightlife correspondent Steve Dunkelberger. Expect $6.99 fish and chips. $1 off craft beer and hijinks.

Oh you fancy Goodwill

BLUE FRIDAY >>>

Tacoma Goodwill Industries is known for its expansive used goods and clothing stores. While Goodwill stores can yield amazing deals, sometimes you really have to work those racks to find that prize Prada sweater or Lucky jeans.

But not anymore.

Goodwill is trying something new.

Friday, Nov. 30 at 10 a.m., blue - an upscale boutique by Goodwill - will open at 2520 N. Proctor St. in Tacoma.

Yes, the title is lowercase.

"A nice property opened up ... fun fact: first property to open up in Proctor in 9 years," says Amanda Bedell, communications manager at Tacoma Goodwill Industries. "Proctor was one of about six neighborhoods we were looking at to introduce blue. The right combination of location and walkability made for a clear choice."

blue will be smaller than most Goodwill stores at 2,000 square feet. Instead of the usual round of home goods and miscellany, blue will focus on unique and upscale - the crème de la crème of second hand, if you will.

"Throughout the years, we've seen a steady stream of brand name clothing, shoes, purses and vintage furniture, all items that would sell well in a boutique setting. The blue concept was to find a place to showcase items like Coach Purses, Lucky and 7 for Mankind Jeans, Ugg and Coach Shoes and vintage home décor," explains Bedell.

Much like other stores, though, revenue from blue will go toward the Goodwill mission, provide job training and other services. Donations will also be accepted at the store.

BLUE, GRAND OPENING, FRIDAY, NOV. 30, 10 A.M. TO 7 P.M. MONDAY-SATURDAY, 11 A.M. TO 5 P.M. SUNDAY, 2520 N. PROCTOR ST., 253.573.6500

THE WEEKEND HUSTLE: "A Christmas Survival Guide," Grindhouse Theater, Gritty City Gift Fair, Pistols and Petticoats party and more ...

>>> FRIDAY, NOV. 23: A CHRISTMAS SURVIVAL GUIDE

Round up the family for some comedic relief and see Harlequin Productions opening night performance of A Christmas Survival Guide, a musical for the whole family. Harlequin Productions describes the play as follows, "This intimate revue takes a wry and knowing look at a stressful season. Armed with a copy of A Christmas Survival Guide and an optimistic attitude, our characters charge into an urban holiday landscape searching for the true essence of Christmas. In songs and vignettes, they learn to cope with the season in ways that are both hilarious and heartwarming." The show features laugh out loud pokes at the season of stresses and stars a cast of talented, funny actors and some puppets. Take your mind of the turkey and the holiday bills and enjoy a night of music and fun. — Nikki McCoy

  • Harlequin Productions, Nov. 23-Dec. 31, 8 p.m., $15-$38, 202 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia, 360.786.0151

>>> FRIDAY, NOV. 23-SATURDAY, NOV. 24: GRINDHOUSE THEATER

After a day of carving turkey, why not enjoy a cinematic experience of carving people with Grindhouse Theater's presentation of Cannibal Ferox on 35 mm film? The film, which has been banned in 31 countries, will include rare uncut footage of raw gore and shock. Due to it's violent nature, no one younger than 17 should be permitted. Umberto Lenzi's 1981 Italian cannibal cult classic, Cannibal Ferox will play Friday and Saturday night and features audience appreciation by offering free raffle and trivia with prizes/giveaways from sponsors: Cult Collectibles - Figures From The Fringe!, Rotten Cotton, Fangoria, Crypticon Seattle and RaroVideo. In addition to the raffle ticket movie-goers get for free just for attending, this screening is a special food drive where each can of food brought will earn another raffle ticket. — NM

  • The Grand Cinema, Friday and Saturday, Nov 23-24, 9 p.m., $9, 606 S. Fawcett Ave., Tacoma, 253.593.4474

>>> SATURDAY, NOV. 24: SING-ALONG SOUND OF MUSIC & TREE LIGHTING

Maybe you can't be in the Alps, twirling in a lovely dress and pinafore, and dancing around an estate with scads of charming children singing "Do, a deer... ." But Saturday you can "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" with everyone at the Pantages Theater for Sing-A-Long Sound of Music. With a newly restored version of the film projected high and wide for all to see and sing to, so you won't miss a note - or a chance to hiss at the Baroness. Come in costume and be judged for prizes. Afterward, you can be a part of an age-old Tacoma holiday tradition - the tree lighting ceremony at Ninth and Broadway. — Ron Swarner

  • Pantages Theater, 2 p.m. film, 5:30 p.m. tree lighting, 901 Broadway, Tacoma, 253.591.5894

>>> SATURDAY, NOV. 24: GRITTY CITY GIFT FAIR

The only time we were forced to walk through that new H&M store in the mall we started to feel queasy, claustrophobic and like we were going to karate chop the next person we saw with a stupid bleach pattern on their jeans in the throat. Just because it's the holiday season doesn't mean anyone should have to go through this. Saturday, check out the Jada-Moon Gridley-created Gritty City Gift Fair, where local artists and crafters will offer their one-of-a-kind fairs for all at the 906 Broadway space in Tacoma's Antqiue Row. Expect re-purposed silk, cashmere and wool to recyled silver and pearls, fashion, reclaimed wood, forged steel, sparkling gems, feathers, ceramics, glass and more. — Weekly Volcano

>>> MONDAY, NOV. 26: PISTOLS AND PETTICOATS PARTY

Monday, Nov 26, the ladies of Pistols and Petticoats are celebrating their one-year anniversary. The group that meets regularly for shooting at Bull's Eye Range in Tacoma and meets regularly for drinks in Olympia, plan to potluck, network and shoot the shit (pun fully intended) at The Brotherhood Lounge. Festivities are from 6-9 p.m. and include a raffle with awesome locally sponsored prizes, cute merchandise from the DIY girls in the club and a drink special on the dangerously delicious Smith & Wesson. The group always accepts new members and will have information on hand for interested parties. — NM

WHAT SOME OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS ARE UP TO

CHRISTIAN CARVAJAL Theater Critic
This is a massive theater weekend for me, so I hope that tryptophan thing really is a myth. I'm seeing Nuncrackers at Capital Playhouse, The Sound of Music at Tacoma Musical Playhouse, and Christmas Survival Guide at Harlequin. Finally, it's time for the best Thanksgiving activity: delicious dinner roll leftover sandwiches.

REV. ADAM MCKINNEY Music Writer
Saturday, I'll be attending a birthday party at the home of James Jenkins, of People Under the Sun (local) fame. There will be copious amounts of drinking and indoor smoking. The following day, I'll smell like success.

ALEC CLAYTON Arts Critic
My Thanksgiving weekend will be filled with theater. Friday night I shall attend the opening of Nuncrackers at Capital Playhouse. It's a wildly silly continuation of the irreverent sisters who first appeared in Nunsense. Then Saturday night another holiday treat - I hope - an original musical send-up from Harlequin Productions called The Christmas Survival Guide.

NIKKI MCCOY Feature Writer
Yesterday I annoyed my family with repeat plays of Adam Sandler's Thanskgiving Song performance on SNL. "Turkey lurkey doo and Turkey lurkey dap, I eat that turkey, Then I take a nap."  I can't get enough of those lyrics! Anyway, Friday is another TGIF happy hour shift at the bar, where I will play nurse, handing out tonics to cure your Thanksgiving hang over. Saturday I'm taking my mom out for her birthday and some local holiday shopping and Sunday will hopefully be chill, with turkey sandwiches and games of Scrabble.

JACKIE FENDER Food Writer
Aside from my usual work "week," I will be helping to guide the masses in the Underground Tacoma tour through the dim lit perils of spiders, dust and creepy never never land characters. Immediately afterward Ill be collecting passports from the Art Bus/Go Local collaboration to be entered into a raffle as an incentive to spend your holiday dollars locally. After all of that amazing madness on Saturday and my obligatory long day Sunday slinging the most important meal of the day, I will spend Sunday evening hibernating.

JOANN VARNELL Theater Critic
Hello CHRIIIIIIIISTMAAAAAS! Well, OK, not really but the toddler, husband, and I will be going to the Sumner Bridge Lighting on Friday. On Saturday we'll go get a Christmas tree and maybe see some snow. Sunday we will head to church and relax.

TIMOTHY GRISHAM Music Writer
As I roll myself out of bed from post tryptophan hybernation, I will partake in the annual family film outing. I hope you imagine this in as much of a National Lampoon's Vacation way as it actually is. I am sure I will draw the short straw and we will see something like Red Dawn. It always happens that way. But perhaps better heads will prevail and we will go to Friday's screening of Cannibal Ferox at The Grand Cinema. The 1981 film is part of the filmhouse's Grindhouse Theater Series and plays both Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. The film is about three friends out to disprove cannibalism who meet up with two fugitives who are hunted by a cannibal tribe. Nothing says Happy Thanksgiving like cannibalism, am I right?

JOSH RIZEBERG Music Columnist
Friday I'll be taking a trip The Comet in Seattle where I'll be catching Metal Chocolates, SpecsWizard, and Silas Blak and AMPFIRE. This will be one of the best, eclectic, avant-garde, artistic, yet hard nights of hip-hop Seattle has to offer. Saturday the 24th, I'll be helping D.A.S.H. Center for the Arts put on Dreamgirls. It's their big winter show. It is at the LAPAC Theatre at Charles Wright Academy. Get some tickets and support these kids! Sunday night, I'll be back-up in Seattle at The Nectar. They have a free hip-hop showcase. Nectar always has good shows, but this one is free!

JENNI BORAN Features Writer
Once upon a time, when I was in fourth-grade, I had a little boyfriend, and he was in a band!  Well, he's still in a band (a different band, this one is called STRIPPED), and we'll be seeing them play at Jack's in Renton this Saturday at 9 p.m. I had to take it easy on the turkey so I could fit in my skinny jeans.

STEVE DUNKELBERGER Photog About Town
As you have seen earlier today, I went nuts on the Kim Archer Band, 253Heart Music Festival and Bad Sweater Party Wednesday night. I'm taking to the stage myself at 9 p.m. Friday at the Harmon as the Monday Ukulele Ohana performs at the 253Heart Music Festival.

NIC LEONARD Music Writer
I hit the Thanksgiving show Wednesday at the Urban Onion, I'm looking forward to a wonderful weekend with the family. Then, of course, the Seahawks game Sunday.

Feather & Oar: Menswear mercantile in Tacoma

FEATHER & OAR: Men’s clothing and accessories, ranging from designer to vintage. Photo courtesy of Facebook

SPACEWORKS MAGIC >>>

Spaceworks hatched a new business in Tacoma's Triangle District. Feather & Oar, at least for now, offers trendy and vintage menswear ... with plans to move into women's clothing.

"Our focus is to offer quality, gentle used and vintage goods with a sense of timelessness. We subscribe to helping our customers find their individual style versus trying to keep up with the trends of fashion," says Feather & Oar co-owner JD Elquist.

Why Feather & Oar? It's a tribute to the area's history, claims its blossoming Facebook page. "Feather" is in tribute to local Native American history, while the "Oar" is symbolic of Tacoma's European settlers. Beyond just its name, Elquist and the other Feather & Oar owners - Travis Pranger and Drew Collier - aim to make this store all about community.

"We want our store to be a place our city can come and relax, hang out and relate," says Elquist. "We will be doing a few community focused events in the months to come."

The trio originally came to Spaceworks as part of Camp 6 - a group dedicated to bolstering local merchants. They saw a need for a men's clothing business downtown.

"Spaceworks is an incredible program," he says. "They offer the chance for artists to have a dream. Having a physical location made Feather & Oar possible and without Spaceworks it would have been impossible."

The store is open Monday through Saturday.

5 Things To Do Today: Girls night out, The Young Creative, Hump Day Jam and more ...

JEWEL KADE: It's vintage. It's modern. It's on display tonight at Morso in Gig Harbor.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 7, 2012 >>>

1. Girls Night Out = Guys Night Out. You don't have to be a math wiz to realize the logic of this equation.  If the girls have gathered, then the guys might want to hang, too. Tonight from 5-7 p.m. the girls will be at the Jewel Kade Fall Jewelry Show at Morso Wine Bar in Gig Harbor.

2. The Tacoma Visitor Information Center is more than just a location for visitors to gather information about what to do and see in the area. The VIC, in partnership The Young Creative, is also art gallery featuring the work of Tacoma's young artists. The gallery will open to the public today as part of Tacoma's Art at Work Month.

3. A good man in a G-string is hard to find. Sure, it's reasonably easy to persuade someone to pose for a drawing, but even if an artist's friends and loved ones are willing to pose in the name of art, they'll soon find that it takes exceptional patience to remain frozen in place for hours on end. Life painting is one of art's most time-honored traditions, though, and there will always be a stream of aspiring Renoirs and Vermeers eager to give it a shot ... including tonight at the Tacoma Academy of Fine Arts. The studio offers an open session figure drawing class from 6:30-8:30 p.m. for $15 in the Merlino Art Center at 508 S. Sixth Ave. To reserve an easel, email tim.mansen@gmail.com.

4. See dance as you've never seen it before - trouncing through a bookstore! Tonight at 7 p.m. inside King's Books, the BareFoot Collective will take to the shelves and deliver a unique performance in a unique venue that is just about the opposite of a formal theater in every way.

5. Do you like the classic rock? Classic rock band Tatoosh hosts an open Hump Day Jam every Wednesday at 9 p.m. inside Stonegate Pizza.

Fall Fashion at Olympia's Hot Toddy

Time for tights! Check out these and other fall fashions at Hot Toddy in Olympia.

Fall is just around the corner, and it’s almost time for the ever-so-welcome wardrobe change.

Sydney Hann, owner of Hot Toddy in Olympia just returned from Las Vegas, where she picked out the store’s fall line.

“There are a lot of items in unusual color combos, which I’m really excited about,” she says. “There are some of the most fun floral prints, too.”

Vintage reproduction with an attention to embellishment and detail are hot right now, especially on dresses.

Trashy Diva and Stop Staring are two of the stores popular lines and feature swing dresses and wiggle dresses.

“There are form-fitting classics and modern styles with vintage flair, too,” says Andrea Cochran, store employee.

Shoes and tights are fall favorites. Ribbon-laced shoes and unicorn prints will be gracing the shelves soon.

When asked what she’d recommend for a fall outfit, Hann answered, “I’d put together a straight skirt or miniskirt, patterned or solid, with tights and some cute flats.”

Look for the new items next week through November at Hot Toddy, 410 Capitol Way S., Olympia, 360.753.0868.
