Where to watch Seahawks vs. Atlanta game Sunday morning

LET'S DO SOME SCROLLING >>>

Sunday morning, we'll be yelling at the top of our lunges, stuffing ourselves into a purple-hazed food coma and throwing adult temper tantrums during commercials, all in the name of cheering the Seahawks to a win Sunday against Atlanta, then on to the NFC Championship game.

Where to watch the game?

Good question. Ideally, the Weekly Volcano wants a combination of multiple televisions, good grub and drink specials. Good grub could be sacrificed.

We searched Facebook looking for Seahawk breakfast specials in the South Sound so you don't have to.

Dim sum coming to Lacey

OMG! >>>

Pattaya Thai Cuisine and Sushi Bar is a tasty Thai hotspot in Lacey, headed up by Chef Ron B. In mid-February Chef Ron will deliver a new dose of deliciousness to the area, in the form of authentic, Hong Kong-style dim sum at a brand new restaurant called YumCha.

Dim sum is a Chinese dish of small, often bite-sized steamed dumplings and foods served in cylindrical steamer baskets. In Cantonese, Yum Cha translates to "drink tea," since many Chinese people snack on dim sum as they drink their afternoon tea.

"There's no dim sum restaurant from Portland to Seattle, so we have people who are asking for it," says Chef Ron. "So now people don't have to travel so far to have great dim sum."

Chef Ron B. is bringing in two chefs straight from Hong Kong to head up the menu at YumCha, meaning Oly residents and visitors can expect authentic cuisine. He says the restaurant will be toward the upscale end of the spectrum with a modern atmosphere. He expects the restaurant will open around Feb. 11 - just in time for you to take your sweetie out for some steamed delicacies.

TOMORROW: Wake your ass up with a plunge

NEW YEAR'S DAY: Fly, be free.

THINGS CRAZY PEOPLE DO >>>

"I do it as kind of a cold shock, wash off last year, start clean for the new, kind of thing," says Joey Stern, polar bear plunger.

Last year, nearly 300 people showed up at Long Lake for the 28th annual Polar Bear Plunge - a good portion of them suffering from ball shrinkage or blinded by the sight of too much northwest gooseflesh. Some dressed in silly costumes. A penguin, Santa and a ballerina were spotted at last year's event, jumping and splashing and screaming with the rest.

Long Lake sits at a tempting 30-something degrees this time of year. Campfires, hot cocoa and coffee reward the brave souls that participate in this crazy, mass-baptism of sorts.

How does The Lemon Grass Restaurant grow?

THE LEMON GRASS RESTAURANT: The Weekly Volcano likes the swanky side of Lemon Grass. Sorry kids.

GOING BIG >>>

There isn't a shortage of Thai restaurants in the South Sound, especially in Olympia. Choosing from quality options, you must factor in a key ingredient - ambiance.

Every place has a different vibe and The Lemon Grass Restaurant in downtown Olympia offers a lovely ambiance for a business lunch or family dining on one side of th erestaurant and a little bit of swagger for date night or cocktails on the other. It's not often an establishment can feel like two different places from one section to the next.

Lemon Grass prepares traditional Thai cuisine with bonus specialties such as an apple curry or their Lemon Grass Garden - a stir-fried dish with choice of protein amidst fruit and veggies swimming in a garlic sauce. Lemon Grass has moderate prices, lovely presentations and a full bar.

For you Lemon Grass Heads, the news of new Lemon Grass in Lacey isn't news. I'm sure you're marking it off a calendar in some sort of Advent calendar countdown system. Visions of the former giant Ruby Tuesday building converting into another Lemon Grass dances in your head.

This news might pop a vision or two. The original opening date of mid-December has been scraped for sometime in mid-January.

Welcome to Lazy Town

"LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY": Bring your Brunkrissla!

LONG-ASS MOVIES THIS WEEKEND >>>

It's been nine long years since the Lord of the Rings trilogy wrapped up. Nine, precious! But no longer will you have to suffer in darkness, far from all things Middle Earth. No, precious, things will now change. An entirely new trilogy based on The Hobbit will hit movie screens Dec. 14, and word on the nerd streets is that these movies carry the torch well - with higher frame rates and better CGI.

To help you rekindle your LotR flame, many theater chains are putting on a marathon of all three movies Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 9. Some theaters are showing extended versions, but all feature a special intro by director Peter Jackson. If you haven't done the math, this marathon goes more than nine hours for the theatrical release version and more than 11 hours for the extended versions.

Count on busting out your catheter or adult diaper.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Barring any new Movember drunken people donning mustaches photos, the Weekly Volcano is going to use the holiday as an excuse to take a rare day off. So, please people, for our sake, dig out that ol' music box that plays "Born Free," open a new doughnut shop or start your own Pacific Avenue Streetscape Project.

And we totally want photos of your family's fight to the death over who has the damn Tupperware. The Weekly Volcano knows every year someone brings Tupperware to collect leftovers and every effing year it disappears.

We'll all see you back here tomorrow for 5 Things To Do, The Weekend Hustle and other glorious posts.

Remember: baste often.

Dear Black Friday ...

EFF OFF BLACK FRIDAY >>>

UPDATE: Having a sale for Small Business Saturday? Tell our 6,100+ Facebook fans about it by posting it on our page.

I have grown tired of your gimmicks and shenanigans and glittery advertisements. I am officially breaking up with you.

I, along with millions of conscientious consumers, am putting my foot down and letting that turkey settle a day longer before spending my hard-earned cash. That's right, the movement that started in 2010, that has gained momentum and gained my love - Small Business Saturday - is taking the nation by storm.

And I'm in.

A website and Facebook page are devoted to the cause, and small businesses everywhere are celebrating.

"But, wait!" you might say, your voice dripping with deals, "Ballerina Barbie is only $2.99, wouldn't your children be delighted?"

"No!" I'd shout back, "Black Friday, you are nothing more than a media control tactic to warp our sense of gratification, when really our local economy will thrive and our sense of self-worth will soar when we shop at our neighborhood stores!"

And your little wingman, Cyber Monday, can shove off, too.

Did Small Business Saturday includes technological businesses, too? Info Tech in Federal Way sells computers and parts and will service your device so you don't have to go out and buy a new one and 4th Dimension Computers and Technology in Lacey has been locally owned for more than 15 years and offers deals on not only computers, but ultrabooks, LCD, LED and Plasma TVs.

And there are dozens and dozens of little boutiques, craft fairs, toy shops, galleries and more that provide cuter, classier, more original gifts than your Ballerina Barbie or two-in-one chair massager.

Black Friday, you and your little cohorts can take your long lines, China-made toys, door busting stress and forget about me.

I'm shopping locally on Saturday.

Sincerely,

Nikki McCoy

Lacey Children's Day - Pirates and Princesses

No, it's not that kind of pirate party - this one's for the kids...

Alright, alright, I write enough about rock shows and strip teases and herb-smoking hippies, it's time to give a little love to the kids. Here's something you can do with the little rugrats and probably enjoy yourself, too.

Saturday, October 6th, Huntamer Park in Lacey will be bustling with inflatable obstacle courses, fun booths with crafts and games, and entertainment on the main stage. This year's theme is Pirates and Princess and children are encouraged to come dressed as either or their favorite storybook character to be entered in the costume contest at 12:30pm.

Pirates and Lady Captains alike will enjoy the Misadventures of Captain ARRR! His interactive comedy performance will have kids walking and talking like pirates in no time. Little Princesses will be amazed with the Simple Wish Princesses. The Princesses come with music that will have all little princesses and princes dancing. Other local children's groups will be performing with songs and short theater productions.

Come enjoy the celebration with face painting, games, and crafts for the whole family to enjoy. This event is free and the fun starts at 11:00am ending at 2:00pm.

Sexy Issue 2012 voting is open

SEXY ISSUE 2011 COVER: Marguerite Giguere was named Sexiest Real Estate Agent. Who will be on the cover this year? Photo credit: Jason Ganwich Photography

HELP US FIND THE SEXIEST PEOPLE IN THE SOUTH SOUND >>>

Once again, the Weekly Volcano is unleashing The Sexy Issue, giving one and all the chance to gaze at the sexiest people in the South Sound - as voted on by all of you, our dear readers. The great thing about the Volcano's annual Sexy Issue, if we do say so ourselves, is how it manages to prove, year after year, that you don't have to be on a Kia Super Bowl ad to be smoking hot. Our annual Sexy Issue is the Weekly Volcano's way of showcasing the South Sound's sexiest denizens - and by denizens we don't mean celebrities; we're talking about regular dudes and dudettes who just happen to look sexy as hell when taking us on test drives, trimming our meat or brewing our beer. These folks can be just as hot - and a hell of a lot more accessible, theoretically - as anyone you typically see on TV and in magazines.

This year, we are asking you to nominate the person who makes you all hot and bothered in the following categories: Actor/Actress, Artist, Brewer, Karaoke Host, Lead singer, Lawyer, Butcher, Car Salesperson, Blogger and Personal Trainer.

On Thursday, June 7, the Weekly Volcano will publish The Sexy Issue, immortalizing the sexy, chosen few forever.

Help us find them.

Voting ends May 11 at 5 p.m. - so help the Weekly Volcano find the South Sound's hottest citizens. Vote today!
