In the 1930s, a young Bronx native moves to Hollywood, where he falls in love with the secretary of his powerful uncle, an agent to the stars. After returning to New York, he is swept up in the vibrant world of high society nightclub life.
Once again, Woody Allen makes the kind of movie he wants to make, meaning we're going to see a blazingly talented cast, including Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart and Blake Lively, fast-talking their way through some brilliant dialogue peppered with keen insights and hit-and-miss one-liners. The cinematography by Vittorio Storaro is a beautiful thing to behold. - Three and a half stars
