[HIP-HOP] + THURS, MARCH 20 Every third Thursday El Protrero packs them in for live hip-hop, rap and DJs. That's right, El Protrero has remained a bastion for the type of hip-hop/rap that reflects the streets and attitude of Tacoma and Lakewood - among other enclaves in Pierce County. This Thursday,

The complicated interplay and opposition of sex and love is a subject that's been explored extensively in pop music - sometimes explicitly, sometimes subconsciously. The year, I think, was 1991. I was a junior in college, and I'd paid my acting dues. Now at long last, it was time for my first main-stage lead. My actual brother Richard and I were cast as the "Schneider brothers," Leo and George respectively, in Neil Simon's 1977

Growing up, I was always exposed to classic rock. Listening to 97.3 KBSG, in particular, was my jam. As a child, you just sort of naturally assume that your parents like the same thing. I later found out, though, that oldies radio was a compromise for my parents - my
