Compass Rose celebrates two years at its Proctor location in Tacoma. Following the model of its sister store in Olympia, which has been delighting shoppers for more than 17 years, the Proctor location features all the quirk, class and sass of its origins - with a T-town flair.

"Compass Rose hearts Tacoma something major," said Manager Liz VanDyke.  "Tacoma is intelligent, quirky, kind, beautiful - and so are our customers! We really feel at home here and have been welcomed with open arms by this fantastic community. Tacoma has charmed us with all it has to offer, and we are pretty darn honored to be an integral part of the retail scene here in town."

While VanDyke travels abroad to find some of the shop's lovely pieces, such as furniture, many of its products are locally made, and the shop often has in-store events, like Jamie Joseph jewelry trunk shows and Made in Proctor, showcasing local crafters.

Compass Rose offers artisan jewelry, colorful kitchen essentials, Eco-friendly baby gear, locally made lovelies, cards, books, and a vast assortment of eclectic surprises. It carries lines such as Le Creuset, Voluspa, Wry Baby, Crabtree and Evelyn as well as local favorites like Blue Beard Coffee Roasters, Nikki McClure, Feeling Smitten, OCD Candy Company, Queen Bee Creations and Margaret Solow Jewelry. Plus, the staff provides complimentary gift wrap.

Compass Rose is looking forward to a long-standing relationship with Tacoma.

"Tacoma is filled with artistic  entrepreneurial minds building a vibrant business community," VanDyke said. "We have seen examples of this in Hilltop, Downtown, the Stadium District, Three Bridges, Triangle District, the Eastside, South Tacoma, 6th Ave. and beyond. We feel like we are representing that energy here in the Proctor District, and that feels like an honor. We are excited for what is in store for our lovely neighborhood, and can't wait to see what the future holds."
