Pacific Bonsai Museum to hold unique evening event

This season will mark the second annual Bonsai Solstice event at the Pacific Bonsai Museum in Federal Way. This unique event is centered on the bonsai tree, which many people choose to grow inside their homes as an artistic hobby. The living art known as bonsai is beautifully showcased within the Pacific Bonsai Museum. Guests are welcome to come enjoy this free event Sunday, Dec. 20, between 4 and 7 p.m.

While most of nature takes the winter off from beauty and elegance, now is the perfect time to view the structural magnificence of bonsai. This event celebrates the changing of the season as well as the natural beauty of bonsai. The Pacific Bonsai Museum is proud to maintain bonsai from China, Japan, Korea, Canada and the U.S. The museum is home to more than 100 beautiful bonsai.

Many people enjoy having and caring for bonsai in their homes. Having a bonsai is especially important to Japanese culture and is regarded as a centuries-old artistic tradition.

Guests of the Bonsai Solstice are encouraged to come out to the museum on the one day of the year it is open at night. Bring your flashlight and view the spectacular styles of bonsai illuminated by simple candlelight. Guests can also test their knowledge on the various bonsai styles such as cascade, semi-cascade, slanting, formal upright and informal upright.

Attendees can also satisfy their sweet tooth while enjoying the bonsai beauty. The Crisp Creperie will be on hand with its delicious sweet and savory crepes. Free tea, coffee and cocoa will also be available compliments of the Federal Way Trader Joe's.

Guests of all ages are welcome to take part in this free, one-of-a-kind event. Children will enjoy using a flashlight to view the bonsai in a whole new way.
