Seattle quartet Versing are masters of lo-fi noise pop. Somehow both stripped down and soaked with fuzz, Versing evoke the deadpan rock of '90s icons like Pavement and Guided By Voices, taking turns with quiet, introspective pop and anthemic rock. The guitars are unimpeachable, a cacophony of joyously sloppy rock. Their show this Friday is one of the first concerts at the newly minted venue, 733, which is housed inside an ancient ballroom in downtown Tacoma. The first time I saw a show there, a couple years ago (back when it was just a rarely used space with plenty of potential), it felt like seeing a few bands rock the Overlook Hotel from The Shining. Versing will be the perfect band to rattle the rafters.
