Olympia's Arts Walk happens twice a year, but the fall edition has always been the little sister, bundled up and toting her umbrella, not as glamorous as spring's costumed, sandaled walk.

This time around, though, the autumn version of Arts Walk has grown to two days. Waterproof gear is still a good precaution, but there's twice as much time to see the art. There are also more businesses participating (106 compared to last fall's 101) and performances happening both days.

Besides visual art, music, dance and street performance, Arts Walk offers the chance to see and be seen. And many participating businesses offer snacks, desserts and even wine. (That's not listed in the guide, though; think of it as a scavenger hunt of sorts.)

Among the more outrageous offerings:

The Barbed Wire Whipping Party (Friday, Oct. 7, 7:30 p.m., Oldschool Pizzeria, 108 Franklin St. NE, Olympia): In 1969, the Grateful Dead recorded "The Barbed Wire Whipping Party," but lyricist Robert Hunter declined to allow the piece to be released. A group of Olympia artists will perform the piece live, with music, poetry, movement, sculpture and lighting. www.barbedwirewhippingparty.com

Tall House Arts Consortium (Friday, Oct. 7, 7 and 9 p.m., Earthbound Productions, 311 1/2 Capitol Way N., Olympia): The high-soaring aerial acrobats perform to the sounds of death-metal act Tuff.

Fall Bacchanal (Friday, Oct. 7, 8:30 p.m., Olympia Ballroom, 116 Legion Way SW, Olympia): Traditional Jewish music and burlesque might seem like an odd combination, but not in Olympia, where Tush Burlesque is always up for something completely different and Erev Rav is not your grandfather's klezmer band. The bacchanal is $15. www.erevravmusic.com.

Rock and blues on the sidewalk (Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8, various times, Capital City Guitars, 108 Fourth Ave. E., Olympia): What they lack in specificity, the folks at Capital City Guitars make up for in enthusiasm. Relatively loud bands and throngs of people in a knot on the sidewalk are the hallmark of Arts Walk here.

Consult the Butohracle (Friday, Oct. 7, 9 p.m., the Bandha Room, 119 1/2 Capitol Way N., third floor, Olympia): Tarot cards and newspaper horoscopes are all well and good, but you can consult them any day. The Butohracle is only available at Arts Walk. Ask a question and the Butohracle will give you an answer in movement. (And no, you don't have to figure out what the movements mean. The show also includes interpretations of the mysterious oracle's responses.) www.bandharoom.com
