You already know Guttermouth. I don't need to describe the band. I don't need to tell you about the purposefully offensive antics, the three chords, or probably even the band's Orange County roots. I don't need to tell you the band is old as sin, and you could probably figure out for yourself that when Guttermouth comes to Hell's Kitchen on Friday it's not exactly going to be the same five punks that started the band in 1988. Still, it'll be pretty cool. Way better than indecent exposure in Saskatoon, at least in my humble opinion. - Matt Driscoll

WEST SEATTLE PLEASURE CLUB

Ladies and gentlemen, hold on to your panties or boxers. Guess who's coming to town. Guess. Wrong! It's the West Seattle Pleasure Club, and besides having maybe the best band name in history, they are masterful purveyors of underwear-destroying soul and funk. I dare (dare!) you to attend one of their shows and keep your super square toes from a-tappin'. Listen, four-eyes, imagine that you're a 90-pound weakling at the beach. You're making your dorky sandcastle, when all of a sudden a stud like me comes along and kicks sand straight past your nerdy glasses and right into your nerdy little eyes. What do you - metaphorically - do? Listen to some West Seattle Pleasure Club, that's what - and tell me that some hair doesn't start sprouting from your ever-manlier chest. Straight up. - Rev. BOWERBIRDS

Northern has vowed to provide Olympians a place to rock, no matter their age. In the venue's few months of existence it has delivered a healthy portion of local and touring bands. This week the Bowerbirds will be landing in Northern's cozy little nest to sow the seeds of their Americana love. Floating and drifting, sweet and lovely, Bowerbirds encourage a step back in time, and a step back into one's self. Their simple medley of accordion, mandolin and clear blue vocals seem to transfer the heart of their North Carolina roots straight to your soul. Don't be surprised if you find yourself hand writing a letter to your grandma or preparing loaves of sourdough bread from scratch after you catch this show - which will also include local legend Calvin Johnson. - Nikki Talotta

SONGS OF HOPE: A FUNDRAISER FOR HAITIAN ORPHANS

At this point I think we've all seen enough images of horror and despair from the Haitian earthquake. If the pictures, footage, tweets and all of it hasn't - at one point or another - truly grabbed you by the collar and filled your being with grief and heartsickness, made you want to help in whatever little way you can, then I'm pretty sure you're a cyborg fuckhead. Just saying. Ben Fuller of China Davis seems to quickly be becoming Tacoma's "King of the Fundraiser" and as music director of the "Music Giving Back" organization he's at it again. Sunday at the Swiss, starting at noon, a lengthy list of Tacoma's creative luminaries like Voxxy Vallejo, Evan Purcell, Q Dot, Fuller's China Davis, Daniel Blue, Joe Rosati, Deborah Page and many others will take the stage to benefit the children of BRESMA Orphanage in Petionville, Haiti. The BRESMA Orphanage is supported by Answered Prayers - a Colville, Wash. based volunteer nonprofit that specifically funds three orphanages and multiple ministries in Haiti. Fuller's Music Giving Back, in alliance with the Tacoma French Club and Developing Resilience, PLLC, has taken up Answered Prayers' cause, and all of the proceeds from Sunday's Songs Of Hope event will go directly to the agency's relief efforts. - MD
