So what's new? Who's got the fresh shit? Who's got next?

His name is Micah B. Young man's got skills. He's extra sharp and expressive on the mic, making him the youngest MC in the local scene worth keeping an eye out for. Micah B reps Lakewood and he makes really good music. To experience his unique original style, check him on ReverbNation and YouTube. His latest video, "Mattress" (see below) showcases definite artistic depth. As evidence, the video has already logged more than 25,000 views. So it might not be long before we see Micah doing it pretty big on a larger national level. Support this local youngster now, so when he gets big he won't forget about all of us and his Pacific Northwest roots.

I want to send some props to Q-Dot - Fed' Way's premier hip-hopper. His name also rings bells in Pierce and King counties, which is probably why a local publication recently named him Tacoma's "Best Rap/Hip-Hop Artist." Q-Dot helped start Juice Radio, he produces Grit City Fest, and he's a gifted MC, producer and musician. Q-Dot recently announced he'll be dropping new material in 2012. So let's all look forward to that.

To thank all the people who downloaded his Coffee and Beats release, Tacoma's John Crown recently hit us with a brand new song on johncrown.com.  It's vintage Crown. To be honest, Crown is even sounding better than he did on Coffee and Beats. The release of new music right after the release of his newest album is a sign that Crown's hunger is not subsiding. Crown's rise in local popularity is exciting to watch. He's branched out and is now doing more local shows, gaining more fans and showcasing his skills to more audiences.

Predictably, when one does well, there will be hate. As Crown's name grows in popularity, it's interesting to see some of the same people who supported him before turn on him now. Why? Is it jealousy? Is Crown not doing it the way his few haters wanted him too? Whatever it is, it's a measure of his success. Crown's rap skills are undeniable. People hating on him only look silly.

Next week it's Sonny Bonoho, The Sound Shop with Tak Patron and Abom the Kid.
