The New Century Justice Network is a local, newly formed social justice organization, formed after the murder of Trayvon Martin.  It is a group of concerned citizens of Tacoma who came together to fight for change in the community by educating, connecting, and working together. Working with the NCJN is Tacoma's local chapter of the national Occupy the Hood movement. "Occupy the Hood Tacoma" and The NCJN are planning a community event on Aug 4th with noted speakers, education, and community discussion about issues that affect African Americans in Tacoma.

Tacoma's local artists community is asked to join the cause. The event will be Aug 4th at People Park on the Hill Top. There will be food and, organizers hope that the hip hop, R&B, and spoken word community will provide the entertainment. Organizers would like to meet artists on Saturday, June 23 at Peoples park from 12pm - 4 pm for a meet, greet, and planning session.  Organizers hope to change laws like the "Stand your ground law," that may be used by defense attorneys for George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin case.  In Washington, the law is called the Castle Law.  For more info and details, contact Dennis at 253.223.4987.
