Come out and enjoy the sounds, sips and camaraderie from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Aug. 2 when the fourth annual Rock and Rally for the Troops event returns to the South Sound.

This year, Seattle Sound Live has partnered with Operation Ward 57 and Louie G's Pizza in Fife to present the event, which is open to veterans, active-duty military and the general public.

"The event will benefit wounded servicemembers, their loved ones as well as those that aid in their recovery through the programs of Operation Ward 57, a nonprofit that supports wounded warriors," explained Brittney Hamilton, executive director for OpWard 57.

The all-ages event will feature tons of live music, a silent auction, a lively beer garden and a motorcycle run sponsored by Brothers-in-Arms Motorcycle Club. Registration for the MC Run will be done the day of the event at 9 a.m. at Rock the Dock Pub & Grill, 535 Dock St., in Tacoma. There is a $15 suggested donation per bike and $10 for each additional rider. However, entry to the dice run does include music festival entry. Breakfast will be available for purchase before the ride, starting at 9 a.m. The last bike will head out at 10 a.m. from Rock the Dock Pub & Grill and the ride will conclude at the event location in Fife, where doors will open at 1:30 p.m.

According to event organizers, more than $30,000 has been raised over the previous three years and the goal this year is to double that amount. All funds raised from the motorcycle run, silent auctions and individual donations will go directly to OpWard 57 to support the wounded servicemembers recovering from injuries at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

At 5:30 p.m. the guest speaker, Army OEF veteran Edward Lychik, a hip-disartic amputee who is now a motivational speaker, will address the crowd to talk not only about his own experiences but also about how important it is to raise awareness for veteran-related issues.

The music lineup for the outdoor concert, which will begin at 2:15 p.m., includes eight great local bands and one national act traveling from out-of-state just to play at Rock and Rally, Righteous Vendetta.

"When Righteous Vendetta was brought the offer to play at Rock and Rally for the troops our manager told us what it was and where it was ... we thought why not be a part of something like this," said Ryan Hayes, lead singer of Righteous Vendetta. "It is our pleasure to even be invited."

The other bands are True Holland, Lakeview Drive, Amadon, The Adarna, The Mothership, Mom's Rocket, Antihero and A Lien Nation. There will also be a special performance of the national anthem by Heather Rayburn.

"We moved locations this year to make it more all-ages friendly and we also added a second stage to make the event bigger and better," said Hamilton.

Planners expect upwards of 1,000 people to attend. The beer garden, for those 21 years and older, will open at 3 p.m. Vendors and information tables will be set up onsite and bids for the silent auction will be accepted between 3-7 p.m. Parking is free and food will be available throughout the day from the kitchen at Louie G's Pizza, which is located at 5219 Pacific Highway East, Fife.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information on the event, visit rockandrallyforthetroops.com.
