Lacey Days, kicking off this weekend, isn't just one event, it's a new title for a whole buffet of fun that gets summer started in Lacey - and the Lacey South Sound Chamber and the city of Lacey are hoping you're ready to dig in to two weeks of events throughout the city.

Among the bigger offerings on the menu:

  • America's Classic Jazz Festival - Thursday, June 25, through Sunday, June 28 at St. Martin's University, 5300 Pacific Ave. SE, Lacey. The 25th annual festival features music on four stages, large dance floors, dance lessons and more. Ticket prices vary from $15 for the kick-off party to $95 for admission for Friday through Sunday.   • Thrive 5K - 9 a.m. Friday, July 3, beginning and ending at Thrive Fitness, 5401 Corporate Center Loop SE, Lacey. The 5K for runners and walkers benefits Always Brothers, a nonprofit that raises money for the education of children who've lost parents in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.   • Fireworks Spectacular and Freedom Concert - Concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 3, at the Lacey Crossroads Shopping Center, 5500 Corporate Center Loop SE, Lacey; fireworks at 10:15 p.m., best viewed near College Street SE and Yelm Highway. The concert features Battle Rhythm, the 56th Army rock band. There will also be children's activities and food vendors. The fireworks show, which always happens the day before the Fourth of July, has been a Lacey tradition since 1967. www.ci.lacey.wa.us/fireworks
  • South Sound BBQ Festival - BBQ from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., beer garden and music till 8 p.m., Saturday, July 11, at Huntamer Park, 618 Woodland Square Loop SE, Lacey. The festival offers barbecued beef, pork, chicken, seafood and more, plus a wing-eating contest and live music with several bands including Spike and the Impalers, playing at 7 p.m. 360.491.4141 or southsoundbbqfestival.com

The event also brings with it concerts in Huntamer Park, restaurant specials and more.
