Now in its fifth year, Polar Plaza has put downtown T-Town on ice since Nov. 21 and still has a few weeks to go until the party stops. The covered ice skating rink has become the place to be for a chilly December, and there's even a food truck onsite some days so you don't have to worry about going hungry.

"We have been off to a great season so far," said Roxanne Miles, business and performance manager at Metro Parks, which is an operating partner this year. "Beyond the Saturday night live music, annual Thunderbirds visit, school spirit days and fun theme nights (and an occasional on-rink proposal), we most enjoy the smiles as people come off the rink, exhilarated by the experience. We hear stories from people who grew up on the ice, as much as from locals who say they look forward to this each year because it's something that doesn't come naturally to the Pacific Northwest."

Not only can you don your skates and perform that triple lux you've always dreamed you could do (disclaimer: don't do a triple lux unless you know how), Polar Plaza serves up entertainment each Saturday night. Coming up Dec. 26, that entertainment looks toward the audience with karaoke night hosted by Entertainment Masters.

"I will be hosting myself and have my boyfriend Scott emcee the evening," said Leanna Mason, one half of Entertainment Masters. "He was a karaoke host for ten years and an amazing singer with a James Taylor sound."

Whatever strikes your fancy to belt out, chances are they just might have it. Help those skaters rock around the rink as you serenade them with your best Bing Crosby or Mariah Carey.

"We will set up at 6 p.m. and will have a wide variety of Christmas music to play as people arrive and between singers," added Mason. "We also have thousands of karaoke tracks from all eras and genres, including hundreds of Christmas tracks."

If you really dig the experience, you can also catch Entertainment Masters at the New Allenmore Elks Sports Bar from 8-11 p.m. on Saturdays. And if you dig it even more, Entertainment Masters mostly hosts private parties and DJs parties and has since the year 2000.

Entertainment Masters will host Holiday Karaoke Night Saturday, Dec. 26, from 7-9 p.m. at Polar Plaza, located at 17th and Pacific across from Tacoma Art Museum. Polar Plaza is open until Jan. 10.
