Summertime and great music are the perfect pair in the Pacific Northwest.

The region plays host to a wide variety of music festivals during the season, many are summer traditions. And with the eclectic variety, there's literally musical goodness for everyone.

And 2015 is no exception.

Here are some of the festivals happening in our own backyard this summer.

The 5th Annual Rock and Rally for the Troops (Cheney Stadium, Tacoma): How about a music festival that supports a great cause? Some terrific bands will descend on Tacoma's Cheney Stadium August 1, for a rocking good time that benefit Operation 57, a nonprofit organization that provides programs and services for wounded servicemembers and their families. The festival will feature the bands Saving Abel, Klover Jane and Van Eps. There will be a special motorcycle run to kick off the event sponsored by Brothers in Arms MC as well as a silent auction and a number of vendors. JBLM Freedom Fest (Cowan and Memorial Stadiums, JBLM): Music is a huge element of this annual Fourth of July extravaganza and festival on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The key feature is a main stage that heralds national and local acts and a wide variety of musical genres. Pair this entertainment with "roving" musical entertainers, and it is clear there's really something for everyone. Be sure to check the JBLM MWR website (jblmmwr.com) and their Facebook page for upcoming details and information on the 2015 festival.

The 13th Annual Tacoma Jazz and Blues Festival (South Tacoma Way, Tacoma): Are you a jazz or blues fan? Then you are in for a treat! The annual Tacoma Jazz and Blues Festival is the ultimate block party, with many featured acts and a beer garden available for the 21+ crowd. This year's festival takes place Saturday, July 25. The 2015 lineup and details have not be released at this writing, however, do be sure to check out the festival website tacomajazzfestival.com and their Facebook page for upcoming information.

Tacoma's Old Town Rhythm and Blues Festival (Old Town, Tacoma):  Save the date! This annual rhythm and blues festival in the historic and scenic Old Town district of Tacoma will take place this year July 11, beginning at noon in Old Town Park. In the evening, there will be a featured main stage for the 21+ crowd. Vendors, food and libations will be available. Tickets go on sale in May. Tacoma's Freedom Fair (Old Town, Tacoma): Celebrate America on July 4th with this annual outdoor music festival that takes place along Tacoma's picturesque Ruston Way in historic Old Town in Tacoma. The festival touts a wide variety of music genres (rock, jazz, country, pop, blues and Christian music) that play all day long. Besides music, patrons can enjoy a fireworks, air, car and BMX bike shows, kid's activities, entertainment and a wide variety of vendors. Get all of the details right here: freedomfair.com.

Capitol Hill Block Party (Capitol Hill, Seattle): This three day event in the city to the north takes place this year from July 24 through July 26. This music and arts festival features over 100 local and national artists. There are two indoor venues, two outdoor venues and a great mix of restaurants and bars for your eating and drinking pleasure. Bumbershoot 2015 (Seattle Center, Seattle): Celebrate the end of summer with this long-running, Labor Day weekend Seattle tradition at the iconic Seattle Center. Explore a number of varied musical acts and entertainment all weekend long. This year's festival is all set for September 5 through September 7. As of this writing, the lineup and other details haven't been formally announced; however, keep an eye on bumbershoot.org for the latest and greatest.
