Snoqualmie Pass, located about 80 miles from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, is the perfect winter playground for the entire family.

The Snoqualmie Pass summit consists of four ski areas which provide plenty of opportunities for skiing and snowboarding - 1,994 skiable acres to be exact. But if you're looking beyond those typical winter activities there are other unique activities available when you visit the mountain. 

With over 50km of groomed Nordic trails, the pass is a popular spot for snowshoeing. A winter walk through the snowy Central Cascade Mountains will give you the opportunity to enjoy the scenery, wildlife and peacefulness of the surrounding forests. Unfortunately, this year snowshoe rentals aren't available directly through the summit. However, REI has set-up a snowshoe rental stand located at Hyak Sno-Park at the summit, which trails can be accessed directly from.

If snowshoeing isn't your scene the summit also offers Nordic skiing. With nearly 70km of cross-country trails, there are plenty of areas to explore. If you're looking to really master the art of Nordic skiing a pass offers plenty of lesson options for both youth and adults.

Two options for tickets are available. A full day option priced at $36 for ages 13-61 years old and $26 for ages 7-12 and 62-69.  The full day ticket price gives you the option of skiing from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. An afternoon half day option allows skiers to hit the trails from noon to 3:30 p.m. This option cost $29 for ages 13-61 and $23 for ages 7-12 and 62-69. It's important to note that tickets must be purchased online and then picked up at the Nordic center when arriving. Cell service can be spotty at times, so take a photo of your ticket barcode before heading to the mountain, just in case. 

A third activity that is sure to be popular for the entire family is snow tubing. At the height of the season over 20 tubing lanes are available along with a covered lift that takes winter thrill seekers from the bottom to the top. The Summit tubing park is located across the street from Summit Central and is open Friday-Sunday and select holidays during the winter season. The last remaining holiday weekend for the 2024 season is Feb. 19-22.

Ticket prices vary by hour and day you plan to visit the mountain and includes one snow tube as well as access to the snow tube lanes. It's important to note that all tickets must be purchased online with no walk-up ticket options available. It's recommended to buy tickets well in advance as popular days and time slots can book up fast. Regular tickets for guests 45" or taller are $50, 44" or shorter  must ride with an adult and cost $19. Each ticket includes a 1.75 hour tubing session. Viewing tickets ($5) have been available for purchase in the past, but this year anyone on the tubing hill must purchase a ticket.
