America's Credit Union is proud of its military heritage, and it remains consistent in its commitment to its active-duty service members, veterans and civilian clients.

"We have 70 years of experience at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and we consistently work to grow our products, services and support for our members, and we are proud of our military heritage and celebrate the fact that veterans still make up a substantial amount of our membership," Philip Prothero, ACU's President/Chief Operations Officer, recently noted.

One of the ways in which your ACU has grown is through its Affinity Checking Program. This plan offers members the choice of three Affinity accounts - Affinity Premier, Affinity Free and Affinity Plus.

"These accounts have benefits that have become essential for members during the times we live in," said Maria Meyer, Vice President of Branch Operations.

The spouse of an Army veteran, she has worked in banking for over 30 years and has been with ACU for over seven years.

"The favorite part of my work is the staff and members - always the people!" she explained. "I want to make sure we as the credit union make a difference."

The Affinity Checking Program is one unique way in which ACU makes a difference. It offers protection from identity theft, cash back on debit card purchases, ATM reimbursements (up to $10) and cell phone insurance.

Specific to cell phones, they are an important part of everyday life, and not being able to replace or fix one can be devasting to someone's livelihood. When it comes to banking, Forbes Advisor reports that as of 2022, 78 percent of adults in the U.S. prefer to bank via a mobile app or website.

Meyer added that the identity theft protection starts when an account is opened and that the cell phone insurance covers both personal and work phones.

"Why wouldn't someone want this account?" she concluded. "Protect yourself, your phone and earn money. Also, thank you to those who are serving and those who have served."
