I like surprises. The good kind of surprises, like a birthday party or finding an extra bottle of premium vodka in the cupboard. And certainly not the bad kind, like a spider in your shoe or absolutely NO vodka in the cupboard. This week's grocery story was a bit of surprise, and fortunately, the good kind.

It occurred to me that one store I hadn't considered grocery worthy was Target or as some like to say, "Tar-jay." I knew they had some edible type items but I had no idea the extent. I mean, I go to Target like anybody else for the screaming good casual clothing deals and home furnishing items, but certainly not for food. Egg on MY face.

So, I started in the refrigerated section. I thought to myself, "This is cool. There's eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, deli meats, lots of stoner food items like cookie dough and microwave brownies." Then I turned around and there was an entire section of frozen foods and just about anything else you would find at your local grocery store.

This was awesome! Mainly because I needed to pick up a few items at Fred Meyer for the morning like, coffee creamer, juice and cat food. Not now! I only had to make one trip. Yes, my friend this is true convenience and I had negligently walked by this section a million times. Are you as stupid as me? Probably not.

Prices here are like any other store. You'll find some great deals and some average prices. Some notable deals right now are on pasta sauce - Classico for $1.84 and Ragu for $1.50 - Market Pantry salad dressing 12 ounces for $1.29, two-quart almond or soy milk for $2.69 and 12 packs of Coke products, three for $10.

I love the paper products. Target carries lots of paper plates, cups and napkins, all in assorted colors and styles.

I hate their wine selection, because there's nothing interesting or unique, but then again I wouldn't expect it to be any different. I'm just impressed they offer any booze at all.

Not really a shocker, but don't look for any fresh meat or produce, cause there isn't any. It makes sense. They don't have the staff or more than likely the desire to deal with something so perishable and high maintenance.

OK, and while I'm talking consumables, there's Taco Bell Express around the corner for the immediate food fix. How convenient is that?

So you shop for those kicky new Capri pants and toothbrush holder, and while you're at it, some cereal, Pop-Tarts and shredded cheddar. Why? Because you can.
