Fantasy world aficionados can immerse themselves in a community of foam weapons, treasure hunts and role-playing cinema this weekend as part of the fourth annual Bonney Lake Fantasy Faire at Swiss Park.

The faire runs daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 9 and 10, and will feature boffer fighting with foam staffs and swords and an archery contest with foam arrows, as well as treasure and scavenger hunts.   There will also be demonstrations of formal Scottish ballroom dancing by the Scottish Country dancers, and attendees have the chance join in at the end.

Dancing, song and skit performances by The Knights of Solaris, The Banshee Players and The Fiddler on the Roof will provide other music and entertainment, ranging from ancient to contemporary. The Fiddler is "a very good fiddler, who's known for putting the fiddle on his head" and playing, said event coordinator Kristen Bartholamew.

Live action role-playing groups will offer high drama with the Rise of the Griffin Tournament and the piratical shows of PDXYAR - which include black powder cannon demonstrations - will be sure to excite those in attendance. People can also try their hand at combat against the mighty Gladiators of All's Faire or join in the epic battles with The Epic LARP Quest or the Humans vs. Zombies game.  All's Faire is the consumer side of the faire, with an impressive amount of merchants making their wares available.

The Youth Rangers of Gondor will lead boffer demonstrations for kids and adolescents and help with their tournaments, said event coordinator Debby Stewart.

"There's a mom in the area, and she's just amazing," said Bartholamew of Erica Moriarty, who leads the Youth Rangers of Gondor. There is also a Court Jester Academy for the kids.

The Madd Hatter Tea Party will be held in the clubhouse from 2 to 3 p.m. both days, hosted by 7/10ths Tea and Bone Shakers Tea. The group, which regularly hosts tea parties throughout the region, will also put on a costume contest on Saturday, which people can enter for free with paid admission.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth and children 12 and younger get in free.  In honor of Servicemembers, organizers are hosting Service Sunday, which features free admission for those with a valid military I.D. Swiss Park is located at 9205 198 Ave E., Bonney Lake. For more information, visit www.bonneylakefantasyfaire.com.
